Oh, I realized that we're on the same page a long time ago.

I just need to tell it to someone that would listen! Wink

No one here (Chicago, not Sig Forum) seems to.

Yeah, let troops from West Africa patrol South Chicago wearing light blue helmets, heavily armed of course. What could possibly go wrong?

You can't get anywhere if you cannot acknowledge the truth. They can never admit the truth, because the truth is that the problem has nothing to do with guns. The issue is the culture itself.

Everyone knows this. Everyone.

Never take responsibility for your actions.
Never show respect for anyone or yourself.

The communities life plan is working like a well oiled machine. I see no problem. Let people live like they want to. But, keep it in your community.

So then the real question is ? What is the solution to the problem.
More police officers aloud to do their job with out repercussion of being called racist when doing their job?
More prosecutors and judges aloud to do their job and put criminals away for "real" lengthy prison terms.
A three strike program with a real life sentences with no parole for career criminals.
Wall off sections of the city and let the criminals just kill each other till there is no one left.(think escape from New York movie)
If the problem is based on social behavior can it be changed or is it to far gone.

No heavily armed patrols necessary. We know who the gangbangers are.

So what exactly would these blue helmets do?

Well, we could assign a blue helmet to each gangbanger to go home with him, make sure he is tucked in at 8pm and guard his room to make sure he gets a full night's sleep. Then wake his ass up at 6am, get him showered and dressed, put a little breakfast in him and make sure he starts seeking gainful employment by 8am. No more sleeping in till noon and staying out all night carousing and drugging.

In short, the blue helmets would fulfill the role of the missing father. Now, they had better be in for a long stay because this problem will take at least a generation to solve. The little gangbanger will have to remain gainfully and legally employed, and won't be allowed sex until he is committed to one woman, and then he may be able to become a father himself.

Here’s Walter Williams’ roadmap out of poverty: Complete high school; get a job, any kind of a job; get married before having children; and be a law-abiding citizen. Among both black and white Americans so described, the poverty rate is in the single digits.

After all these years I should be used to it but I just can’t help but be shocked at the utter stupidity of our elected officials.

"peacekeepers" in Chicago would be just as effective there as they have been everywhere else.

We know what the result would look like:

And in more Chicago news, disgraced former PC Garry McCarthy is exploring running for Mayor against Rahm.

When McCarthy used to speak on local news programs, you could feel intelligence being sucked away from the entire planet. He really is that stupid!

Why was he disgraced? Because Rahm fired him? I'd wear that as a badge of honor. I'd also take him over any Superintendent that served since Phil Cline.

I based it on what I thought was the general opinion of the rank and file including accusations of spousal abuse, and if I'm wrong about that, tell me and I'll delete that part of my comment. You're the guys who dealt with him and I'll respect that.

My slam on his intelligence is based on observing him over the years in his televised interviews and speeches, and I'll stick by that.

His firing was because Rahm needed a sacrificial lamb over the Laquan MacDonald case, wasn't it? I don't hold that against him, just more dirty politics on Rahm's part.

Some of the guys like him some of them don't. I myself was excited about him when I heard him speak on a local radio station here. When he arrived however he tried to dismantle the CPD and turn it into a western NYPD IMHO. He failed What works there may or may not work here. The other thing he made a mistake on was that I don't think he realized how heavily politics control the CPD. While politicians everywhere control their PD's, in Chicago it's at an extreme. I was impressed in how he handled NATO here by actually being on the street instead of in his office. He led from the front, not the rear. He did make some anti-gun statements that I didn't agree with but I think he did that to toe the line. Having said all that, I do think he was the best boss since Phil Cline and when I look at the current crop of mayoral candidates he is the one who would get my vote. The rest are pandering idiots like the Cook County Commisioner who wants the UN to police Chicago. And that's our problem in Chicago. Pickings are EXTREMELY slim when it's election time.

As Parabellum said above, 'acknowledge the truth'.

In business and in the military the first step in any problem solving project is to define the problem you are trying to solve. One can spend hours in conference rooms doing just that. If you get it right, rainbows and hot chocolate. If you get it wrong somebody will probably replace you.

Of course in business and the military it probably doesn't come up that you don't want to define the problem because that would be, you know, racist, but the solution to any problem is never to enable the problem.

If the roicket surgeons in Chicago think guns are the problem, the blue helmet boys need to bring their clippings about the Hutu and the Tutsi, the TonTon Macout, the 'necklaces' in South Africa.

The problem is the breakdown of the family. The government, as welfare sugar daddy, has replaced the male as provider and father/authority figure. Dependency on government leads to the breakdown of the family. The breakdown of the family leads to further dependency on government.

As Walter Williams says:
1. Complete high school;
2. get a job, any kind of a job;
3. get married before having children;
4. and be a law-abiding citizen.

It has nothing to do with race. Among both black and white Americans so described, the poverty rate is in the single digits.

What could go wrong? African blue helmet soldiers from Chad or Niger patrolling American cities with their antiquated .308 battle rifles.

I couldn't agree more. That won't stop those that don't want the problem solved, and there are many, from using the term though.

Yeah, the UN Peacekeepers did a great job protecting the Tutsis from the Hutus in Rwanda. They kept the number killed from going over 1 million.

Inviting UN into the U.S. is an insult to our nation and sovereignty. I remember they had UN election observers here in the U.S. That is such a demeaning action.
We are the greatest nation on the face of the earth and do not need a bunch of lesser countries telling us what to do or policing us.
