Probably on a trip |
This forum is a sanctuary for me. I travel all around the world for work and deal with sone messed up stuff but I always know that I can come here and get a dose of sanity. I am on vacation now in Athens but am still posting here. Thanks Para for maintaining the best group of people on the planet here. BTW the view from our balcony tonight. Behind the trees is the Acropolis and Parthenon. This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears above ground he is a protector. Plato

On vacation in Athens. The Parthenon outside your hotel room window. Yeah. Praise Zeus that you have Sigforum. Now put the tablet down and go do cool touristy shit that some of us can only dream about. Relax, Para will leave the light on for you.

Amen! I am on the flip side. I work from home, seldom leave. This forum is my view to the outside world, current events, etc. I love to visit, it is a beautiful place! Two things bring me to tears. The unconditional Love of God,the service of the United States Military, past, present, and future. I would rather meet a slick-sleeve private, than a hollywood star!

First thing I do in the morning is walk the dog, feed the dog, grab a cup of coffee and then log onto this site. The site I enjoy visiting the most. Because son, it is what you are supposed to do.

My favourite site of them all, regardless of primary subject focus. "America is at that awkward stage. I also am extremely appreciative of all of Para's time and effort keeping this site maintained. I feel that perhaps we should donate something, to cover his out of pocket expenses. I have learned a lot, and being behind enemy lines in Kalifornia, feel not so isolated. -c1steve

Or, is it "Hear, hear"? Q
|
delicately calloused |
The phrase hear, hear seems to have come into existence as an abbreviation of the phrase hear him, hear him, which was well-established in Parliament in the late seventeenth century. The UK Parliament prides itself on its lively debates, and saying “hear him, hear him” was a way to draw attention to what a person was saying. And in case you were wondering, there was no “hear her, hear her” variation—the first female MP was elected in the twentieth century. Sometime during the eighteenth century hear him, hear him acquired its short form, hear, hear, and that form is still used today. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier
