Whole milk Greek yogurt or labneh, grated salted Persian cucumber drained in a sieve, finely minced garlic, salt and a drizzle of olive oil. Spread on toasted pita bread. Fine stuff.

DrewRI’ll play your game.
What is worse then Greek yogurt? That is an easy one, Guacamole is worse then Greek yogurt. All these years later and it still reminds me of cold green snot.
First time my wife tried to feed some of that crap to our two year-old and you would have thought she had tried to poison him by the reaction he had.

signewtso for those haters of the texture of Greek Yogurt.....man up & take a swig of kifir...THEN tell us what you hate more....
personally I've gone from hating any yogurt to preferring the non-sweetened stuff over many standard 'food items'. And I'd rather have blue berries & etc with yogurt than with ice cream.
YMMV etc.

Kefir is good stuff. Greek style is a little stronger tasting, which I prefer. If you really wanna go off the deep end, try baked style. You can't drink it, you have to eat it with a spoon!

And yes, it's damned good, too.

sidss1After reading through this entire thread, I think that a lot of you all either just dont know how to serve up Greek style yogurt or towelhead style yogurt or Indian yogurt. Guys, instead of hateing on yogurt, why dont you try the many ways in which it can be served?
I like plain yogurt, greekstyle or arab style or iIndian style, have it every single day. eat yogurt straight or sometimes I cook some curried yogurt and have it with homemade flatbread.
Actually I got a laugh reaing about alll the negative reactions you guys have to a wonderful food product.

Didn't work for me. In my mental palate yogurt and peanut butter seemed like it would work great. But in reality there was no melding of the flavors and I was really let down.
Like I was eating yogurt and peanut butter at the same time, rather than yogurt with peanut butter... if that makes any sense? lol

Try Natto and Lutefisk and let us know if you find any reason to change that statement.

P220 SmudgeI just tried my first sip of Ayran Dogh. Holy shit. The liquid milk consistency is… misleading. If you hate yogurt, imagine salted sheep’s milk that’s been fermented. Stings the tongue. Betting most of ya’ll wouldn’t like this. Reminds me of some stronger sheep and goat cheeses I’ve had. My wife picked up the regular and mint flavors at my request. I’ll let you know how the mint tastes. We have Eurasian grocery stores here with products from Russia to Poland and I’ve been trying out all sorts of interesting things. This stuff is from Turkey. Interesting for sure, but I think I enjoy kefir more.

jhe888Flavored "regular" yogurt (like Yoplait) is the stuff that is disgusting. It is, essentially, candy.
Greek yogurt, is what yogurt actually tastes like. (Greek yogurt, traditionally, is yogurt that has been hung in a cheesecloth to let some of the liquid drain.)
I like plain Dannon - it is creamy, but doesn't have anything else it. If I want to doctor it up, I go full-on '70s health food style - a little honey and a couple of spoons of wheat germ, which adds a little subtle crunch and nutty taste.

Green Snot? Is nothing sacred?
I love avocados in almost any form.

apprenticeI love Triple Zero Greek yogurt.
More protein than two eggs with fewer calories and live cultures for gut health as a plus.

John SteedI'm probably getting more sugar than I want, but I love Trader Joe's vanilla Greek yogurt. I got some Meijer's store-brand that is surprisingly good as well. Put enough sugar in it and I'm not hard to please.
But I only eat a small amount every day, usually with sliced peaches and / or banana. A spoon of Trader Joe's chocolate spread really makes it a treat. I will have to try the chocolate raspberry and caramel apple pie recommended above. Sounds great.

HK AgI like greek yogurt and now find the Dannon varieties to be as mentioned above too much like candy.
As for Guacamole / Avocado / Cilantro / healthy stuff yes sir love it!

Survey says: It's actually pretty good! I think I like it better than plain. Love or hate Greek yogurt, ayran dogh is in a whole other league.
Up next: labneh.
