The GF and I both love movies, but our tastes are different, with some overlap. Our solution is that one of us gets to pick our kind of movie and in turn the other gets to their kind of movie. For example, she'll watch Kill Bill with me and I'll watch Steel Magnolias with her. This has worked out well over the years.

Anyway...

I picked Dave Chappelle's Sticks and Stones over her protests and threats of Pretty Woman. She laughed so hard that she had to release me from the deal.

Finally watched it. I didn’t find it hilarious but it was definitely funny and thoughtful. I see Chappelle as a sort of continuation of Carlin.

I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. He has a very unique way at looking at things. The couple times where I could have been offended, I just remembered, ‘Sometimes comedy isn’t funny’. I’ll watch it again.

Rotten tomatoes is doing what they can to try and discourage people from watching it. Only negative reviews and they won’t allow the public to review it. Their bias is showing...oh well, not that I gave a fuck about their opinion before they pulled this bitch move. Link to their thin skinned bullshit

I've never bothered looking at critic reviews posted on IMDB, only reviews from IMDB members, and unlike rotten tomatoes, they don't stick critic reviews in your face. IMDB is a great and information-packed site. I couldn't tell you the first thing about the politics of those who manage IMDB, because unlike rotten tomatoes, they don't stick it in your face.

Holy crap on a cracker. I disagreed with some things, or more likely, they weren't relevant to me. (Like the crack epidemic- I was young enough I only VAGUELY remember any of it- certainly not enough to understand it or pass blame around.)

The thing about IRREVERENT comedy is that it comes from a perspective- one that you may not understand from first hand experience! I have heard his humor and think he's hilarious, even though I didn't grow up poor or black.

When he cracked up at his own stuff got me more than some of the jokes. But let's be honest- a lot of the things that GOOD comics say that are funny are when they say things we've THOUGHT but haven't been willing to SAY.

The part about the French Actor. We swear Chappelle was doing an exact intimation of one the officers I work with during the interview part of the French Actor bit ("Sandwiches????").

Their site is bought and paid for by the studios. I’ve read reviews before and after film watching and laughed. What they say is certified fresh I’ve said was shit and movies they have given terrible reviews I have liked. When that’s going on it’s just a paid for site that cannot be trusted. They can certify Deez Nuts.
