Heard on the radio driving home this morning that she has appointed her cabinet and she is the first PM not to have any white men heading her appointments. The reporter was ecstatic. Only 12% Of Brits Have Trust In Truss https://www.zerohedge.com/poli...its-have-trust-truss Liz Truss' Cabinet is Britain’s first without a white man in one of the top jobs https://www.nbcnews.com/news/w...an-top-job-rcna46594 _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." Interesting that NBC News finds such a low level of support for a brand new PM; perhaps some skepticism is called for. Here’s a Daily Signal interview with the man who heads the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom, Nile Gardner. Truss was once a Liberal Democrat and is now a “Thatcherian” Conservative; obviously it remains to be seen how she’ll govern. Daily Signal Interview Interesting that Biden and the Dems (like Pelosi) have been trying to strong arm the UK over the Northern Ireland Protocol, having to do with the Northern Ireland/Republic of Ireland border and the UK’s BREXIT. The interview touches on UK/US relations and the Biden presidency. This BBC story explains the Protocol pretty well. Well it goes along with the new woke philosophy of critical race and intersectionality. Just google the two terms and you will see what is happening. They are even teaching this garbage at West Point now. White people are now inherently racist. Does not matter what your actions are, or your motivations. Intersectionality assigns a new status for race, sex, gender etc..... Good place to learn about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jLNgLABuTw _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." I’ve been noticing at work that almost all VPs, directors, and program managers are female these days. Perhaps it’s just a coincidence that most programs are behind schedule and over budget. I mean, surely they were the most capable of all candidates for their positions. Surely. Our woke as fuck ceo wouldn’t hire based on gender and race.

I suspect this is the real reason the media is shitting on the new PM. With Russia controlling most of the natural gas in Europe, European nations are having to reconsider their worship at the green altar which previously lead to bans on fracking. The UK has very old o&g fields, and all over the world fracking has given a new life to old o&g fields. I have no idea what she will be like as PM, don’t know anything about her. I wonder though, how much of the negative survey results are about her specifically and how much are about generally distrust in government.

She was literally sworn in just one day before the survey was published; I guess only tacfoley could say how well known she was as a result of her previous positions. _______________________________________________________ despite them

I think the smartest move would be to wait and see what she does and how she behaves before forming any opinion(s) of her. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. I was rooting for Kemi Badenoch, an Englishwoman of Nigerian origin for PM; she seemed to be the most Thatcherite of the candidates, very anti-woke. Shows you what a racist I am. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

She’s off to a good start. She thumbed her nose at the EU and resumed domestic shale oil production. Bravo ______________________________________________ Life is short. It’s shorter with the wrong gun…

Some good insights from that interview and article so thanks for those links. Some encouraging indications, at least to me, are that Prime Minister Truss has solid government experience coming both from the Treasury and as Foreign Secretary, both of which should serve her well. She's been a politician long enough to have developed and honed her skills. Recognizing both the global and domestic energy crisis, she has reversed the British ban on domestic fracking, she has promised to cut taxes and, reportedly, she is opposed to both CRT and Transgender ideology being taught in schools or practiced in government. She is apparently aware of the huge illegal migrant crisis in her country and committed to taking action on it, but we don't yet know what action she will take. I'm not sure what position she has taken on Ukraine, but the early indications are that she recognizes the threats that both Russia and China pose. I'm not sure where she stands on Iran. I would assume she recognizes North Korea as a threat. Reportedly, she was deeply opposed to Brexit early on, but supposedly has evolved to staunchly supporting it now. As is often the case, she is replacing much of former PM Johnson's cabinet with her own "Thatcherite" team, but leaving a couple of his picks in place. PM Johnson was perceived as often giving lip service to Conservative ideology, but governing from a Leftist or Centrist position. He was regarded as holding some good Conservative positions, such as supporting Brexit and opposing CRT, but was known for increased taxation and increased government spending...he was also regarded by some as too willing to avoid confrontation and would backtrack to avoid angering either his support or his opposition. Supposedly, Prime Minister Truss doesn't suffer from this flaw, and is prepared to go toe to toe and stand for British best interests and defend her party's ideology. There are recent sound bytes of her mixing it up in Parliament, criticizing the Opposition while rallying her party supporters, so it doesn't sound like she will be a shrinking violet. To be sure, there are some British hardliners on the Right that criticize her, but even they seem to admit that while she may not have been their first choice, that she will likely do well and she will have their support...at least this early in her tenure. As you say, it remains to be seen how she will govern but, on paper at least, she seems to stack up well. I'd be interested in hearing from our British members, or any other knowledgeable members, on her track record or how she is perceived by British voters and what, if any, mandates she has received. Understandably, many Brits are probably distracted and in mourning over the passing of the Queen, and they are going through a tumultuous time with both a new monarch and a new Prime Minister, and it will likely take some time to see how this new government is received and how much support it will enjoy. It wouldn't surprise me if, in this time of loss and redirection of British government, if Prime Minister Truss makes a couple rookie mistakes and, should this happen, I hope she will be given some grace as she learns her way through this difficult time and change.

Regardless of everything else, she has to get through Elizabeth II's funeral and then Chuck's coronation. I'm sure there have been plans in place for many, many years, but still, it's a bit of a $#!t sandwich to have dumped on your plate a couple days after becoming PM. Harshest Dream, Reality

Chuck's coronation isn't going to be for several months at the very earliest. Truss has time to get her legs under her and reassert her party's position. FYI- Elizabeth's coronation was 18-months upon her father's passing and becoming queen.

Different time and her ascension to the throne came as a surprise rather suddenly. They've been planning Chuck's for years and could probably pull it off next week without a hitch. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil."
