WTF? "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

I don’t know Jack about the British Government, but why would she resign after only 44 days? "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. One of the short comings of a Parlimentary government....and, the precarious position that the Tory's have set themselves up for by forcing her out.

As I see it, since Brexit British party politics, especially within the Tories, have been excessively driven by ideological purity. Since leadership candidates are initially selected by the parliamentary caucus in successive elimination rounds, they have to pass muster of camps which might not be the majority, but can block the path up - the hardcore Brexiteers, the economic libertarians, etc. Then when candidates make it to the top, they run into reality and frequently face a choice between pissing off the ideological purists or the popular majority. Truss emerged from a competition where candidates tried to out-Thatcher each other, because that's what you need to make it to the final round with the current Tory caucus. Once she succeeded, she tried to implement pretty radical financial reform while the British economy was already reeling from the triple effects of Brexit, COVID and Ukraine. Which nearly led to collapse of the Pound, resulting in some hasty reversals, firing of cabinet members, etc. In the end she had pissed off about everyone she needed to support her continued reign. In the British system which is governed quite a bit by tradition and informal rules, that can mean a quick ouster, as Thatcher herself experienced (albeit after already having had a lengthy spell in office).

As it turns out, governing is actually hard work. Something many of our elected "leaders" learn. Some figure it out, others just ride the gravy train. But in this case, her train had already left the station leaving her no decision. Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

It has been a while, but my recollection is that the British Prime Minister can be removed by a simple no confidence vote of parliament. With the chaos of her reign, it may well have been that her choice was to resign or to be tossed out. It isn’t nearly as hard to get rid of a PM as it is to get rid of a President.

Paul Joseph Watson attempts to explain the 'utter clusterfuck' we have seen in the UK in the last few weeks in his indomitable manner... What really happened in the UK? "Some things are apparent.
