Williams Sonoma is having a really good black friday deal on a Techniform Moccamaster.

If you've been on the fence about one due to price, now is the time. Search Link

There are different models, metal vs glass carafe, colors, prices vary, but $230 is a heckuva deal! That's about $100 bucks off.

Sur La Table is also doing the same thing.

I watched the short video. It didn't seem to do anything special. Add grounds and water. What am I missing?

If you know, you know. No better coffee anywhere than with one of these. If mine ever breaks, I'll buy another the same day, price be damned.

Yeah. Consistent temperature. I've had mine for about 8 years, and it's the next best thing to using a Chemex pot.

I got one on sale last summer. I am now a fan.

I used to go out for coffee several times a week. Now, I'll go out to socialize, but prefer the coffee I make at home with the Moccamaster.

So I can get a Chemex Pour-Over Glass Coffeemaker For $50?

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I'm interested but am unclear whether you use preground coffee or if you have to grind your own beans? Reviews online seemed to indicate pre-ground coffee was "too fine" for this machine.

Also, any trouble with handle breaking on carafe? Several reviews stated the handle can't hold the weight of a full pot.

What say those of you who have one? We have a Keuirg and use the pods. It's ok but if this truly is better and not a huge hassle I'd consider buying.

We have one going strong about 5-6 years. Add a nice burr grinder, and there is no reason to drink coffee from anywhere but your own home brewing set up.

Very true. Now heat water to 205 degrees and make a pot of coffee in six minutes from start to finish. Then, figure out how to keep the pot from going cold before your second cup. This is why the Technivorm is worth more than the Chemex. You get all the quality, and it takes far less time with no downsides.

So this doesn't grind the beans, I get that now. It's cool looking, and I believe it makes good coffee. We use a Braun. I've been happy with it. I guess 6 minutes is fast, but we tend to use a timer. I get we could put a timer on the outlet.

The unique thing about a Technivorm Moccamaster is the quality.

If you lose or break any part, just phone Technivorm USA and they will send to you. ALL parts are in stock.

If you drop it, or whatever, you can send it to Technivorm USA and they will fix it for you. Price is reasonable.

AND it's not one more crappy wallychinamart thing going to the landfill.

It is NOT a cheap wallychinamart crappy appliance.

It works and works well, and the quality is excellent.

Your kids will probably inherit it from you and it will still work fine.

I’ve long read about these things. Can someone tell me the difference between model numbers, etc? They make a lot of variants of this thing. I was looking at this one.

Well, since they have them in Orange, I'll give it a try. Big Grin I confirmed with my wife that our Braun is getting sketchy. Ordered a spare carafe so we can rotate them through the wash. Did Amazon to get the slightly better deal using their CC, and regardless I'd have paid extra to get Orange, inexplicably not offered through WS.

After discussing with my wife, we thought we'd give this a shot to see. If we don't like it we'll send it back (got it from Amazon, not WS).

Being used to drinking Keurig k-cups, I'm excited to see how this make coffee better.
