Going to Minnesota over Thanksgiving to see my daughter. Looking for recommendations for restaurants in and around MinniapolisSt Paul. My daughter is getting her Phd at the Univ of Minn. She suggested I ask my gun buddies on the forum for restaurant advice. This message has been edited. Last edited by: SIGfourme,

If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there.

I was in Minneapolis in Sept for work, stayed downtown. I had the best pancakes and breakfast at The Hen House! If I get back there I will eat there again.

Don’t know if it’s still around as it’s been a few years, but Butcher & the Boar on Hennipen Ave downtown was excellent.
ETA: Looks like it’s still there.

When I lived in the Twin Cities, I loved the Black Forest Inn at 26th St. & Nicollet Ave, just south of downtown Minneapolis. Good German food and beer.
If the weather is nice Go walk the arch bridge. I walk it every time I am there and eat at the Wilde cafe. Wilde cafe
Near the airport I like hazelwood they have wood fire rotisserie chicken, awesome Ruben and a banana desert that’s out of this world Hazelwood food and drink
If your near maple grove then I like Malone’s bar and grill and granite city food and brewery

Yes, this is the best steak place around. Try the Makers Mark pudding!

What kind of food and/or experience are you looking for?
Ruth's Chris is very good - and on the pricey side.
A few of my favorites are (in no particular order):
Cafe Latte - Very casual, good food and the BEST cheesecake and desserts in the area. Reasonably priced.
Main Street Farmer - a bit of a drive from Msp/St Paul, but good food, ingredients sourced from local farmers. Reasonably priced, close to the outlet mall.
Brick and Bourbon - 2 locations somewhat close (Stillwater and Maple Grove). - Highly recommend the Smoked Maple Old Fashioned! Food is good too
Not really restaurants, but I love these places too... Izzy's Ice Cream - Two locations Msp and Saint Paul. Probably the best ice cream in town.
Those are the places off the top of my head that I like to go - I'll ask the other half what her favorites are when I talk to her later.
<ETA:> After speaking with my fiancee, the first 3 she spoke of were: Cafe Latte, Kramarczuk's and Cossetta's - Pizza, pasta and salads. This message has been edited. Last edited by: ShouldBFishin,

Skip the chains, you can find them in any city and don't need to go to them in MN/STP
If you are flying into town get one of the Prey series novels by John Sandford. Detective novels that are based in Minneapolis and reference the areas. I've read most of them on flights and highly recommend them, you'll get a general understanding of the city.
