Going to Minnesota over Thanksgiving to see my daughter. Looking for recommendations for restaurants in and around MinniapolisSt Paul. My daughter is getting her Phd at the Univ of Minn. She suggested I ask my gun buddies on the forum for restaurant advice. This message has been edited. Last edited by: SIGfourme,

I was in Minneapolis in Sept for work, stayed downtown. I had the best pancakes and breakfast at The Hen House! If I get back there I will eat there again. HK Ag

I run trains! |
Don’t know if it’s still around as it’s been a few years, but Butcher & the Boar on Hennipen Ave downtown was excellent. ETA: Looks like it’s still there. Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view. Complacency sucks…

When I lived in the Twin Cities, I loved the Black Forest Inn at 26th St. & Nicollet Ave, just south of downtown Minneapolis. Good German food and beer. www.blackforestinnmpls.com/ Serious about crackers

What kind of food and/or experience are you looking for? Ruth's Chris is very good - and on the pricey side. A few of my favorites are (in no particular order): Cafe Latte - Very casual, good food and the BEST cheesecake and desserts in the area. Reasonably priced. Moscow on the Hill - Authentic Russian dining. Victors 1959 - Cuban food. Matt's Bar and Grill - Home of the Jucy Lucy (burger) - expect a line. Kramarczuk's - Polish / Ukrainian food. Main Street Farmer - a bit of a drive from Msp/St Paul, but good food, ingredients sourced from local farmers. Reasonably priced, close to the outlet mall. Brick and Bourbon - 2 locations somewhat close (Stillwater and Maple Grove). - Highly recommend the Smoked Maple Old Fashioned! Food is good too Not really restaurants, but I love these places too... Izzy's Ice Cream - Two locations Msp and Saint Paul. Probably the best ice cream in town. Isles bun and Coffee - the BEST caramel rolls in the area. Those are the places off the top of my head that I like to go - I'll ask the other half what her favorites are when I talk to her later. <ETA:> After speaking with my fiancee, the first 3 she spoke of were: Cafe Latte, Kramarczuk's and Cossetta's - Pizza, pasta and salads. This message has been edited. Skip the chains, you can find them in any city and don't need to go to them in MN/STP Go local. For instance Al's Breakfast in Dinkytown. https://www.alsbreakfastmpls.com/ If you are flying into town get one of the Prey series novels by John Sandford. Detective novels that are based in Minneapolis and reference the areas. I've read most of them on flights and highly recommend them, you'll get a general understanding of the city. http://www.johnsandford.org/books.html __________________________ My door is always open to Sigforum members, and I'm always willing to help if I can.
