Just spitballin', but I'd bet on that driver taking a little micro-nap (due to sleep apnea or something), mashing the throttle and then waking up about 1.5 seconds later when our pub-hound was in his crosshairs.

Glad you're MIL is recuperating, but your post is confusing. Are you sure you're not confusing sleep apnea (an apnea event is a temporary cessation of breathing while sleeping) with narcolepsy (a condition when a person falls asleep repeatedly during the daytime)?

Sure looks like the bus accelerated hard, hit the building as well, stuck throttle, sleepy driver, hope the guy does well, we should buy him a pint...
