The info needs to be specific!

"Marty's pizza hates Dominicans!"

Then they wouldn't go there. The Dominicans would happy, Marty would be happy. It's a win, win! Big Grin

My real life experience has been that people who see race in everything are the biggest racists.

In terms of people being racist towards me, it wasn't white people. It's the group that accuses others of being racist. The group that looks down on the darker toned people in their own group. Roll Eyes
A guy I know, a "person of color", has told me numerous times that he can't be considered racist simply because he is a "person of color". Ummm, suuure... He made a blatantly racist FB post, so I called him on it, boom, he unfriended and blocked me. Awwww, shucks.

Sure Yelp, what could possibly go wrong with your plan.

This makes my Point, most people dont know what racism is. However, by extension, his thought process would have folks not of color racist by default. There’s no reasoning with these people.

Yes.

I’ve been in a stalemate with my own parents for 20 years regarding this. They chose to attend a church that focuses on racial reconciliation, and while I would happily admit that there are racists out in the world, they are pariahs in our society.

The church is decent enough, but the themes and vision they’ve chosen no longer apply unless you continually create boogeymen, and “systemic” racism that is undefinable beyond that word.

Antifa begins compiling lists of businesses to add to Yelp's 'racism' blacklist

After Yelp announced plans to place alerts on businesses accused of "racist behavior," an Antifa group responsible for organizing the violent Portland riots is now compiling a blacklist of pro-police and anti-Black Lives Matter companies.

I find Yelp and almost every review service to be worthless because you end up with a bunch of 5's and 1's and very little in between. Amazing how there is almost no middle ground between "Awesome" and "Suck".

I use Open Table so I can make reservations, which also shows how popular a place really is depending on the booking level. I detest places that purposely waste your time (chain steakhouses with peanut shells on the floor) by making you wait and refusing to take reservations. I value my time - I can show up on time for any reservation and if there is a chance I might be late I will call ahead. I can't guaranty that a date who might be meeting me at the restaurant will be on time (seriously, I have found that many professional women are regularly 15-30 minutes late), but I will be there, and the extra time might generate an incremental drink...

But you know, there's another angle to this:

I was on a phone call with a Chinese female friend that has lived in the US for a decade and speaks English fine but with an accent that is not terribly strong. She was at a Jack-in-the-Box drive through and the black female worker kept complaining that she couldn't understand the order. Meal number 3 vs. Meal number 1 is pretty distinct even with an accent, you know? She repeated herself and the black woman got irritated and basically told my friend that they declined her business and that she had to leave. So, Jack-in-the-Box in Greenwood, Indiana is racist against Chinese. Maybe I will report that yo Yelp because I was going to call the manager and rip them a new one, but my friend said she was going to talk to the manager herself and I let it go at that.

Yelp is a shady company and always has been. They're basically legalized blackmail. People give your business bad reviews and then Yelp comes to you and says "If you pay us, we'll derank the negative reviews and not show them to users."

Their business model alone is reason enough to never use them.

Yep, they are total scum.

Open to All?

Yes. Any customer that acts in a decent manner and pays for the product.

Those clowns in Portland have managed to destroy a significant number of businesses. Why anyone there would give a crap what they want is beyond me.

They did wonders for this restaurant..

quote:
Abyssinian Kitchen: One of Portland’s most critically acclaimed Ethiopian restaurants announced it was “resigned to the fact that it would be nearly impossible for us to operate safely and successfully in the current space we occupy.” The restaurant hopes to reopen in a new location after the pandemic. “We plan to reopen in a different setting at a different location on the other side of this pandemic,” the post reads.

"It's become much more difficult. I know there's a fair amount of people that won't come downtown that used to," Baccellieri said. "The vibrance is gone. The city is not the way that it used to be obviously."

Many businesses around Pioneer Square are boarded up.

The square itself didn't appear to be vandalized.

There's graffiti on some buildings, but not everywhere.

Pioneer Place and surrounding businesses were also hit with vandalism during protests.

Many storefronts now look like a work of art, with boarded up doors and windows are covered in murals.

FOX 12 spoke with Rufus Williams, who was out selling Black Lives Matter t-shirts.

He's not from Portland but he comes here often, and he had some reflections on Portland's current climate.

"I look at it good and bad. The reason why I say good and bad because the bad part is it took a tragedy to get to that point. The good part is somebody got some pretty good artwork, somebody got some skills," Williams said.

Some business owners also told FOX 12 it's not just the vandalism but it's the violence and concerns about safety that is keeping many from heading downtown right now.

Is this the anarchist's utopia?

quote:
PORTLAND, Ore. — Tammie Campbell in North Portland tends to a memorial garden, a “garden of hope,” as she calls it, for her late mother, but she is losing hope because of the homeless problem.

Just across the street from that garden is a motorhome that’s been parked in the same spot for days.

Campbell says it is just the latest in a long string of people camping in their cars on her quiet street just off Lombard near the Peninsula Crossing Trail.

She describes a couple living in a car on her street: “Him and his girlfriend lived in it and the toilet was the street.”

But worst of all was the pig. The dead pig.

“There is a big scar in the grass over there from leaving a pig -- a big, fat, dead pig,” Campbell says, adding the people living in the motorhome, “were there for two or three months; something like that.”

In July the Portland Bureau of Transportation posted “No Parking 10 PM to 5 AM” signs across from Campbell’s home. PBOT says they did it at the request of Portland police.

“Police have said that they’ll provide enforcement of these signs. Just putting a sign there doesn’t necessarily change behavior. You have to have enforcement behind it,” says PBOT spokesperson Dylan Rivera.

Try telling that to Tammie Campbell.

“I mean, they put the signs up for no parking and it doesn’t work. I mean, the parking ticket (division) closes at 10 p.m., which is when the sign is in effect. And police are too busy with everything else to do anything about it.”

It's called Saint George in Retirement Syndrome, Douglas Murray talks about this in his latest book and articulates it as a problem that modern liberals have. Like all lefties, they need a revolution to face down, they need to be at the forefront of change; gay rights, women's rights, reproductive rights, etc, all have been settled and legally binding. For Saint George, he's always looking for a dragon to slay, there must be more dragons out there who need slaying...thus, the fight is never over.

His recent sit-down with Joe Rogan touches on it as well.
