Chuckle. But I’d probably like them with those toppings. Photos in the article.

“Social media sensation Bhad Bhabie has shared her shock at discovered how British people serve baked potatoes.

For most Americans, the toppings featured on baked potatoes are usually sour cream, bacon and cheese - but, as the rapper just learned, that is not universal, particularly when it comes to the British take on the dish, known in the UK as a jacket potato.

Recently, Bhad Bhabie filmed a 13-second-long TikTok clip at a restaurant, where she expressed her exasperation about the go-to potato toppings in the UK.

The 20-year-old looked perplexed as she explained that people in the UK put beans or tuna on their baked potatoes. …”

I'm not surprised that an American would find British eating habits odd. After all, he's American, and is looking at people in a foreign country doing what THEY like.

Most British people think that eating scones at breakfast is odd - YOU call them biscuits BTW - and think that what YOU call 'gravy' looks like vomit.

LOL

I still recall the Governor's Missus at the Blue Boar pub on Berwick Street I bartended in Soho back in the early '70s being very perplexed over my use of "two greases." I liked butter on my potatoes and au jus on the meat she served. She just shook her head and muttered about Americans. Big Grin

I envy those in the UK for their wonderful assortment and availability of savory pies. I subscribe to retired Northern England Chef John Kirkwood and I drool over many of his videos featuring those pies.

The potato toppings on the other hand… well lets just say I have no culinary envy of those across the atlantic on that score.

I'll see your biscuits and gravy, and raise you Stargazy pie, black pudding, Spotted Dick, and faggots.

Look, I get that you're a proud Brit and will defend your country against all slights, real or perceived, but Americans are hardly alone in thinking Brits have... perhaps underdeveloped culinary tastes. I see to my utter lack of surprise that the beans in question do indeed appear to be the much-revered Heinz baked beans. An all-purpose topping ne plus ultra, it would seem. Equally amazing on both toast, and baked potatoes.

Together on the same potato, I'd pass, but otherwise it doesn't sound bad.

I had peanut butter on chicken today. Yeah, don't do that. Big Grin

I wasn't "bad", it just wasn't good. Together they didn't make some foul concoction, they just didn't compliment each other in any way.

I'm not sure about this one. Perhaps I'll just stick with SPAM, SPAM, eggs, and SPAM and beans.

Bear in mind that I might be the only other American on the forum who also likes Marmite. Big Grin

We do?

Not in the ensigmatic household. We call biscuits "biscuits" and scones "scones."

My wife makes great scones Smile

I was talking to a bartender at Disney once and he told me the British like to put Current syrup in their beer.
I had never heard of this before.

A friend of mine put mayonnaise on pretzels. I said no way he said don't knock it till you try it. It was actually good. Now ever so often will dip pretzel sticks in mayonnaise.

I developed an application of beans for breakfast while visiting Australia.

Tuna and beans on a big baked potato sounds delicious!
