Why is this in this thread?
Give me a number- how many times are you going to need me to tell you directly to refrain from posting political commentary in apolitical threads.
What's the number? Is it three? Will next time do it? Four? Nine? What? Tell me.
I feel bad for the dump truck driver. He will probably will never get that image out of his mind. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Johnny 3eagles,

When I heard this I thought that as a QB he could pick out a receiver 50 yards down field between defenders, but couldn’t see a Dump truck coming? Something doesn’t add up.
Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins was 'walking to find gas after his car got stranded on a Florida highway' before he was fatally struck by a dump truck, his wife explained in panicked 911 call.

Hey, that's at least a plausible excuse. It does happen. I'll wait for more to come out before forming any additional conclusions.

Not buying it. Some other guy called 911 to report someone walking on the highway but this comes out now?

Dwayne Haskins' wife told a 911 dispatcher that the quarterback was walking to get gas on the morning he was struck and killed by a dump truck on a Florida highway, audio released by the Broward County Sheriff's office revealed Wednesday.
Kalabrya Haskins told the 911 dispatcher that her husband called her early April 9 and told her he was getting out of his vehicle to get gas and that he would call her back when he returned to the car. When she didn't hear back, she called 911 and requested that dispatch check on him.
A final crash report released by the Florida Highway Patrol said Haskins was walking on the westbound side of I-595 when he entered into the travel lanes and into the path of the dump truck, which was traveling in the center lane. The front left of the dump truck struck Haskins.
The report concluded that Haskins was improperly in the roadway, and the driver of the dump truck wasn't found to have taken any actions that contributed to the accident, based on the judgment of the investigation officer. Haskins was also struck by a second car traveling beside the dump truck that took evasive maneuvers to avoid him, but partially hit him on its right side undercarriage, according to the report.
Seems odd. Did he have a gas can? Was there a service station right across the busy highway? You'd think he'd call a tow company for service to bring him gas before getting out of his car to go look for it. Some pieces are missing in this story.
I know a guy who hit a lady walking down the lane of the freeway on a dark rainy morning. He says she appeared out of nowhere and he never had time to touch the brakes. Her car was on the side of the road about a mile back in perfect working order. Clear suicide. I last seen the guy about six months ago. He's not the same and says nightmares are still nightly.

I just read that too. I get the idea of not wanting to spoil the first meeting but.... Just call her and go to the house or something. You're going to skip your son's funeral for that?

Maybe they can have two funerals. One for the wife and, after digging up the coffin, a second funeral for the parents.
The stupid is strong with these people.

And Gil is 100% correct. To bad everyone has feels now and can't read anything without feeling offended. Did he commit suicide? Who knows but if you're that weak minded to do it, you probably did society a favor.
The guy is 90 and probably has no filter. But without hearing him say it and just reading the words, I agree that what Gil said wasn't wrong. "Jogging along the freeway" is about as delicate as one can get; he didn't mention suicide. It's about life choices that puts people on a different trajectory.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Many years ago, when I was a Snap On Tool Franchisee operator, a buddy of mine was driving his Snap On Tool Van home in the late evening.
He said he never saw the guy who ran in front of him until he was in front of this vehicle (probably weighed 20,000 pounds) and then he heard the most horrible sound, like HOOOOFFFFFF, as he ran into the guy at about 40MPH.
Bystanders swore that they were trying to keep the guy from running into traffic, and that the guy kept breaking free, resisting their help.
Dude got what he wanted, killed dead.
No charges filed against my friend, but to this day he still has nightmares of this event.
It sucks.
If you are going to commit suicide, don't involve anyone else who is totally innocent and just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The innocent people pay a toll for mental anguish, whatever you want to call it, for many many years, if not for the rest of their life. .
