Rechargeable USB battery backup flashlight? Login/Join

Camper has USB ports and 24/7 solar panels (assuming there is light).

We often pull in late so pitch black and I’m fishing for flashlights so I wanna put 2 inside the door.

Figure I can keep ‘em plugged in while traveling.

Anyone use one or know of something to start with for a search?

Streamlight Microstream USB rechargeable.

I don't normally recommend them, but it fits what you're looking for and they're cheap. $29.99 at Amazon and you can probably find them cheaper elsewhere.

Wurkkos FC11 has USB-C charging and magnetic tailcap along with a high CRI led.

There are various magnetic charging flashlights from Olight, Skilhunt, ArmyTek, and others but they are going to cost more.

Thanks for sharing this.
I am wondering if if the battery is replaceable when worn out
Or
Is the whole deal a throw away when the battery goes kaput.

Fenix has several USB rechargeable flashlights. At work, I use a PD36R and a UC35 (now discontinued and replaced with the PD35R model).

There probably are cheap USB flashlights that are intended to be disposable, but most of the higher quality ones (Fenix/Streamlight/Surefire/etc.) will have a rechargeable lithium battery inside, which if it eventually goes bad years down the road, can be removed and replaced with a new rechargeable battery.

Some of them can even run on standard, non-rechargeable batteries if needed. For example, the Fenix PD35R uses a rechargeable 18650 battery, but can also run on non-rechargeable CR123A batteries.

Happy with OLight.

But for serious use, I prefer the OLight headlamp, rechargeable 123.
Small, simple, bright, & hands-free.

Rechargeable headlamp sounds like the ticket...I'll look at Fenix also to have a few laying around the camper...always wanted to try out the brand but never strayed from Surefire until this year.

If you want a rechargeable headlamp, I'd go with Skilhunt H04F RC. I used mine for several hours today. The built in diffuser is a very nice feature.

^^^ looks very similar to the OLight H1R.

Use it daily and hardly use a regular flash light.
Two hands vs one, and everywhere you look is lit up.

It looks like the Olight H1R is discontinued, but they do offer several newer options for rechargeable headlamps, like the Array 2 or Perun 2.

I like the Powertac E5R. Looks very similar to the one pictured above.

1800 lumens. It is bright. Rechargeable. Replaceable battery. All metal. Nice, quality light. But they now cost $100.

I have 3 of them. Lost 2 somewhere in my barn. They are still there. Third has a special place in my truck so I don’t lose it. (Fingers crossed).

I have a Modlite PLH-V2. I’m extremely happy with the throw of the light, and the ability to swap parts as you wish.
Comes with a rechargeable battery, via a USB charger. So there is the component of having a charger, or extra battery.

I've been using Coast light for years, local company and no questions warranty.
Pocket light for work.
Work headlamp. I use it every day, all day and go days between charging.
House light. I have smaller ones for my vehicles that are always plugged in.

All but the pocket light take a rechargeable or regular batteries.

I would think a headlamp could come in handy. For $16.00 this one has served me well. When I dealt with a three day power outage I really became a headlamp fan.

Have Fenix rechargeable headlamp. Very satisfied with mild-extended use on several occasions.

The Fenix UC35 I got years ago, had built in USB port directly into the battery. While it works fine, I was surprised at how expensive a backup lithium battery with such a port was. Forget the cost, but too. damn. much. Found regular lithium cell works fine so no problem.

Going on nearly 10 years of Fenix use now, have a little fleet of their pocket size, no complaints with any of them.

Streamlight Macrostream. It's about half the size again of a microstream, but puts out way more light. I've been using one as my off-duty EDC light for about 6 months since I lost my microstream, and there's no way I'd go back now.

The o-light magnetic chargers are VERY handy & are USB. I keep a seeker 2 pro in the truck for grab & go, no unplugging or swapping batteries.
Reminds me the PL-mini on my bedside P320 probably needs juice (need to run cable into lockbox in nightstand too).

I have a bunch of fenix p3d's that just won't die. When I need something else, I'll probably go with o-light or similar because of the charging.

I have the Fenix UC45. I love it, but be careful when unplugging the charger. The plastic piece holding the port broke and it tried to pull out. It still works though.
