I’ve donated to both the NRA and GOA, but I wonder where that money goes, and I wonder why the NRA is always giving away expensive trucks and guns and gifts for joining or renewing. All that stuff does not instill confidence in the NRA to do what they are supposed to be doing. Fight for our gun rights. Just where does that money go? I just heard of the Firearms Policy Coalition today. They look like a good organization to join and contribute to. Does anyone here have any experience with them? --------------- Gary Will Fly for Food... and more Ammo Mosquito Lubrication Video If Guns Cause Crime, Mine Are Defective.... Ted Nugent

I posted this 4 days ago. 101 views and zero comments. Am I to take this as advice to Never donate to gun organizations at all???? For what it’s worth, these days I may only look at SF once a week and post less often, so if this subject has been beaten to death, I never saw it. --------------- Gary Will Fly for Food... and more Ammo Mosquito Lubrication Video If Guns Cause Crime, Mine Are Defective.... Perhaps no one had a good response. Wayne seems to be using a lot of the nra money for himself, it appears... I think the GOA is a good group to support, but can't tell you how they use the money. As for the FPC, have not heard of them before. Lastly, this is the first time to see your thread. Hopefully, some more knowledgeable folks will chime in?

I’m more comfortable donating to the GOA vs the NRA. As for the FPC, I stumbled into that site a few days ago and sent the link to my other half who told me she told me about that at least a year ago and she has been a member for quite some time. (I have no recollection of that). They look like they are seriously active in D.C. and all over the country. What bothers me about the NRA is all the trucks, guns and other giveaways they have. I want to donate, but I don’t want my money to go to expensive dinners etc. --------------- Gary Will Fly for Food... and more Ammo Mosquito Lubrication Video If Guns Cause Crime, Mine Are Defective.... Thanks for clarifying. Am also very uncomfortable with the nra and what they are (not) doing. Have called them and told them so; we want wayne gone and a full audit done. The big ticket raffles are a concern. There must be better ways. However, the management is more of a concern. The board needs to be removed as well.

I realize all these organizations need money to operate but I swear I just don't understand the constant begging... I finally got off the NRA beggars list..... Lifetime Endowment Member.... GOA is always sending me begging emails... it gets ridiculous after a while.... As for Wayne L.... it must be nice to have a job that pays 2 mil a year plus benefits.... Heck, I'd be willing to do it for half that.... maybe the BOA will call me. My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

I'll second this suggestion. They take direct legal action, send newsletters. Unfortunately, like most there are repeating mail requests for more. ------------------ The plural of anecdote is not data. -Frank Kotsonis

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
The NRA has been the leading gun rights organization for decades and great progress has been made with them. Unfortunately I don't see that continuing with Wayne LP at the helm, or even involved. The board has been made up mostly of members that are there because of name recognition, not management skills. Many of us automatically renewed each year and that gave them the means to make this stuff happen, along with a large slush fund that has been abused by the leader and maybe others. Their presence in the news has been invisible lately, except for the bad press and that's not good for fund raising. I doubt that will change as long as there are no reforms at the top. They need a strong and capable board of directors that run the show competently and can change out the hired help as needed, not the other way around. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Reoccurring requests for donations Years ago I listened to Alan Gottlieb (Second Amendment Foundation & Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bare Arms) address this issue. He stated to the effect that organizations when soliciting funds have no idea as to when an individual has both the means and is motivated to donate. Because of this, organizations send out solicitations in a wide variety of ways and do so often. This makes sense to me. Perhaps receiving unwanted solicitations is the price of supporting organizations whose goals we support. In my view, while the NRA is in critical need of a second “Cincinnati Revolution,” there are many state and National organizations that are deserving of our support. Silent

If you're in OR you may want to look into/consider OFF: https://www.oregonfirearms.org/join-support-off Otherwise probably SAF. $.02 worth, Boss A real life Sisyphus... I believe most prizes in their raffles etc. are donated for the advertisement benefits. NRA Life Member "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." Teddy Roosevelt

I Am The Walrus |
The NRA is a double edged sword for me. I don't trust their finances, and lately, their lack of presence. But I also acknowledge they are the largest and most powerful 2A lobby group we have. I am a member but I do not donate additional money. I've just heard too many bad things about Wayne to donate additional money. I've heard good things about GOA and will likely join them in the near future. There's also the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership group. _____________

Left-Handed, NOT Left-Winged! |
The lack of NRA participation in this election help Biden win. I heard virtually nothing and saw zero from them. A lot of that is due to the NY State lawsuit against them for the alleged financial irregularities. The lawsuit was obviously part of the calculated plan by the democrats to silence the NRA by tying up all its resources in court cases. That said, Wayne needs to go ASAP. If he cares about the organization and its mission he will step down and let new management clean house.

NRA has been too quiet on many issues recently. I have been with GOA and they have been more active. I am done with the NRA ads long as Wayne is involved.

Vote the BASTIDS OUT! |
I'm forced to pay into the NRA to maintain my NRA Instructor Certification which is needed to be certified to teach gun classes in MA that lead to a State certification for the students. The students need the State certificate to apply for a gun permit. Otherwise, I'd say good bye to the NRA 'til they straighten out their waste of resources. I do give locally to my State orgs like GOAL (Gun Owners Action League) and COMM2A (Commonwealth Second Amendment) which are lean, mean gun right groups that do very good work. The FPC ( https://www.firearmspolicy.org/ ) is doing good work. The FPC seems to be in competition with the SAF for the number of court cases they've got going. However, the FPC will spam the ever-loving heck out of you after you join or donate. That's what an email filter is for. They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

I’d like to join a local (state) organization, but there are so many in Oregon. I only want to join one and I want it to be the most active organization. I tried asking in a PNW forum but really got nothing useful. I’ve seen that site before. Looks interesting. --------------- Gary Will Fly for Food... and more Ammo Mosquito Lubrication Video If Guns Cause Crime, Mine Are Defective.... Ted Nugent
