PHPaulHelp Identifying Tool
Cyber-friend rescued this tool that was being discarded by a school. I can't quite picture what it is for, other than some sort of swage perhaps. Interchangeable ends numbered 1-50, #50 is 15/16ths diameter.

egregoreThey look like mandrels for forming a flare/chamfer in a hollow tube of some sort. What application there is for such a thing is still a mystery.

That's what I thought when I looked at it. The kind that flares up the ends of copper piping for brass connectors.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

This certainly makes sense coming from a school where they probably had a band and music courses.

Mars_AttacksYes, it is a brass instrument dent remover. Marching bands will have many dented tubes.

egregoreHey, I knew they were mandrels for
something.

Something like that (in principle) would be used by gunsmiths to get dents out of shotgun barrels.
