As a Linkin Park fan, this is really sad to hear. I had tickets to go see them next month. I listened to them a lot in college. RIP

Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington has committed suicide ... TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell us the singer hanged himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County. His body was discovered Thursday just before 9 AM.
Chester was married with 6 children from 2 wives.
The singer struggled with drugs and alcohol for years. He had said in the past he had considered committing suicide because he had been abused as a child by an older male.

Chester was very close with Chris Cornell, who himself committed suicide by hanging in May. Today would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday. Chester wrote an open letter to Chris on the day of Chris' suicide.
The band has had a string of hits over the years, including "Faint," "In the End" and "Crawling." Linkin Park crossed music genres, collaborating with Jay-Z.

The band's album, "Meteroa," was one of the biggest alternative albums in music history.
Bennington was 41.
RIP

They live a lifestyle that is not conducive to aging well. Liver, heart health, kidneys, BP...etc.
at 40 or so for most people, these things start revealing there selves. Sometimes when the damage is done, they just feel bad all the time, leading to more drug/alcohol abuse. Eventually, they just get tired of feeling bad. This doesn't even factor in the psychological factors associated with it.

How Kieth Richards is still around is probably sn anomaly.

Had a now deceased family member damage himself like this. He was Forty when he passed away. The death was accidental, but his autopsy revealed damaged organs that were, or about to affect his quality of life/ and or kill him.

Let's skip these kind of comments, alright?

While there is no requirement for sympathy, there is also no need to take a piss.

Suicide is not simple, nor is how anyone gets there. No one here was in this mans mind, so no one can really see into why he chose to do this. Why speculate, and why roll out disdain?

If you can't punch your own ticket, you're a slave. It doesn't make it "OK," but it means that few can really judge someone who chooses to take their own life.

Arc.

Sounds like he may have suffered from lifelong bouts depression/emotional turmoil as a result of the abuse he suffered as a child. "Self-medication" is rampant among the depressed/damaged, yet only makes matters worse.

I was saddened to hear this news today. I loved Linkin Park and their music in the early-mid 2000s.

He had a very tough childhood, with terrible abuse. That and living the music scene lifestyle, it must be difficult to stay grounded.

Those that abuse their bodies with drugs will have a weaker immune system than normal persons. As a result, low grade infections are sometimes able to invade the body, leading to auto-immune diseases. Ever notice how many Hollywood or rocknrollers develop multiple sclerosis? I do not have the numbers, but it appears to be relatively common, much more common than seen in normal population.

Suicide has long been "the thing to do" with hollywood and music types. Kill yourself accidentally or do it on purpose is the complete package for "immortality".

Sad all the way around.
I read somewhere that most celebrities are at least borderline bi-polar...the highs are really high, the lows really low. Couple that with "the lifestyle" and it is probably not conducive to stability.

Drugs!!

I still really enjoy the Hybrid Theory album and Meteora is pretty good too. I have to be in a mood for Collision Course but mainly because I really dislike Jay Z.

Haven't really paid much attention to them since then as nothing really caught my ear.

It's really sad. But all of these music stars have the world by the balls. Money, fame, women. I don't get it....Michael Jackson, Cris Cornell, Prince, Whitney Houston and on and on.,....I think they lose sight of what normal is.
