It could be even worse if you read the fine print. At least in the HOA community we lived in, in MD, the wording specified 2/3 of the homes, not just 2/3 of those voting.

I 100% totally agree. Most houses in my neighborhood are owned by retired folks. They want my lawn mowed, my car fixed the day I start working on it, and my house painted. Unfortunately for them my wife and I have full time jobs (mine is 50 hours+/week) and are preparing for retirement. We'll start making sure the house looks good the day we retire. Until then, fuck the neighbors. Actually we're looking at more hospitable climates to move to when we retire. My wife will not consider a house that is under an HOA umbrella.

we moved into a great school zone here in Texas...the area of the subdivision we live in is brand new construction and is at the end of the roads...literally its just the plots across the street and then an assessment for water to flow when or if it rains floods...or zombies....

the homes are all in the 240's or higher...

I have no problem with all this....the issue I have is that we pay near 500 dolars a year for a neighborhood "pool' which is only 4 feet deep.

Ladies and Gentlemen, that is a puddle. four feet is not deep enough to drown an alligator. And my little one needs more area to belly flop in.

There are no gates. No common areas, no nothing but keeping up with the "pool" care and making sure Bubba and Jethro don't fix cars int he street.....

I'm thinking there are at least 100 homes in this section and they produce 500 dollars a year for some realtor to lord over....and THAT burns my chops.

cant wait till Mrs. Mike comes to the same thinking....then we can move over towards the wasteland between Temple and Gatesville....(it is along the north border of Ft. Hood and is nothingness)
