Beautiful country up there, we really enjoyed ourselves. The Northern Lights were quite active Not sure, but I think I got a pic of the SAR Arc (facing NE) and lots of waterfalls... Now you need to watch the movie Escanaba in da Moonlight. It's Yooper humor from Jeff Daniels (MI resident). Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity DISCLAIMER: These are the author's own personal views and do not represent the views of the author's employer.

I see the Upper Tahquamenon Falls and Bond Falls, but I’m not familiar with the small one. Not Kakabika, Agate, Munising, or Miner’s Falls.

Wife's folks have had a cabin up there on the lake for years. Beautiful country. <>< America, Land of the Free - because of the Brave

We spent a week up there camping along Superior near Munising. Watching the kids swim in the glassy (and cold!) water with ducks playing nearby while the sun set behind them is a picture seared into my brain. J Rak Chazak Amats

We didn't. This was our first time up there and we were running from sunrise to o-dark-thirty everyday. If we get back up there I'll have to look him up.

Wow, you really did a lot of the UP! My parent’s used to have a place near Watersmeet, but we never really ventured west of there. Now that we have a place in the northern LP, we tend to stay on the eastern side of the UP when we go “up north”. Really, the UP is only 20 miles north of us, but I haven’t been west of Munising with my own wife and kids.

If you are coming up, make it quick! We should be at max fall colors for the next week. After that, bring your parka! U.P. summer: 3 months of bad snowmobiling! End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Yes it is beautiful up there. I was just there a week ago. We try and make the trip every year. We visited Munising (Picture Rocks), Tahquamenon Falls, Paradise, Whitefish Point, Sault Ste. Marie (Soo Locks and Antlers Restaurant) and Saint Ignace. Of course I ended up coming home with some smoked whitefish, pasties and Murdoch’s Fudge. Good times for sure! And of course YooperSig is right we missed the beautiful fall colors by a week. Maybe next year.

Wow, you really got all over! Your timing was awesome for the northern lights, too! Love the yoop! We went there on our honeymoon as kind of an accident....tried to go to Gatlinburg but no one would rent to us because we were under 21. Found a Vrbo right off of US2 outside of Naubinway, and we absolutely loved it. In hindsight we are so glad Gatlinburg didn't work out! We went back to that Vrbo 2 or 3 times as a family before they sold it, and have since camped around the peninsula multiple times. Our kids love it, and we have pics of them up there spanning their entire lives. I think my favorite spot so far is Craig Lake State Park. Truly a remote, wilderness experience, and the fishing is fantastic. I'm kinda disappointed we couldn't make it this year. I love being able to go up there, go out in the woods, and get away from everything without having to spend 30+hours driving one-way to do it.

Just back from the U.P. myself today, only 3 days worth. I was NW, Baraga County. The main thing was family visiting, then helping another get a camp ready to sell. I think they close in a few days. They we helped a guy get his ‘large’ Redneck blind up on the platform. That was a minor to-do. I didn’t even have time for grouse hunting, though did see a few. Then more visiting, and a short visit to our camp. The weather was ideal.

I’ve vacationed extensively all over the Yoop, my absolute favorite place to… it’s very hard to pick a favorite place because I love them all. I always figured anything north of Midland in the lower was go to go but once you cross the bridge it’s truly a beautiful place. The people are some of the best I’ve ever encountered. I once took a semi/lowboy to Marquette and had problems going thru Seney, I had no less than 5 people stop and ask if I needed anything, absolutely fantastic folks living in a beautiful place.
