Olivia Newton-John has passed away at the age of 73 after a long battle with breast cancer, according to her family.

A bit of my youth passing away, RIP ONJ.

I saw her perform 39 years ago on her 34th birthday in Minnesota.
She wore a Minnesota Twins jersey with the number 34 on it.

Her music was never my thing, but she seemed to be a genuinely lovely person.

Her music in the '70s were enjoyable pop tunes. My first Olympia beer was drunk while watching "Grease". One night I went to the movies while in the Navy; paid to watch "Xanadu" and it turns out I was the only one in the theater.

A very good entertainer from my teen years, early 20's. Too young. No Oly, but I have Budweiser..time to lift a glass to her and Roger Mosley.

As a young man with volatile hormone spikes, I first saw her in Grease at the theater. I was hooked on her through the 80s when she vanished from entertainment. I moved on and had all but forgotten her. A few months ago I heard one of her songs lilting in the background of the grocery store. I smiled to myself and indulged a nostalgic moment. Later I watched her and John dancing on a youtube clip of Grease. She was still easy on the eyes but the years have pacified the hormone spikes.

Our worlds would never intersect, but had they, I’d have thanked her for entertaining me in our youth. May God keep her close. May her family have peace.

Neither she nor her music were ever my things, but she was part of my youth.

Sad. Way too young to go.

She may have been someone completely different from her public persona, but she always had a wholesome vibe about her. Not ashamed to say I liked quite a bit of early music.

Grease was the first movie I remember going to in a theater. My aunt took us when our house was being built. I think my parents just wanted to get rid of my sister and I for the day. Fall of 78 I think. We also had the soundtrack, on 8 track!
