I see that Fusion 360 is very pricey. I’m a long time user of CorelDraw that may do similar things. Time will tell.

From pg 2, sounds like the free version of Fusion is pretty capable

Almost forgot, if you are looking for reusable spools, rather than printing them which is...ok, order sunlu pla and it comes on reusable spools kind of like bambu but at far less of a price. Its good filament so far as well.

Good to know, I guess the better question is are there any places/brands to avoid for filament, or is it usually the same regardless?

Ok, after looking a bit more into options I am now torn between the Creality K2 and Bambu P2S…

K2 a little less money both have pro/con vs each other.

Seems the big plus for the K2 is better heat regulation and for the Bambu more efficient and less waste.

Thoughts on these from the forum?

The lady at the post office got a plastic box to set on her desk, from her son.

It has a slot on top that she drops her cell phone in too.

Then on the front, it's shaped like a Klipsch horn.

She says that it amplified the cell phone without electrical
assistance.

I'd say it's about 4" x 4" x 4" .

I'll just say, that so far I'm really liking the P1S. Finally got 2 more spools of PLA, so back to making stuff this week Big Grin
No experience with any others, other than a brief interaction with a Honda Civic sized printer back in college.

My AMS is now stocked up with 4 spools [3 full 1 partial] of PLA. And I'm working from home tomorrow. Might be a print day, and might dabble with the desktop version of Bambu Studio vs doing it all via my phone.

BH Photo sent me an email for pre-order on the Bambu P2S, so I got my order in!

Hope to have it first week of Feb. need to start stocking up on filaments now.

ETA - 8 spools on order! Basic colors and some combos.

Wife was originally quite dismissive if not hostile to the 3D printer idea, but then she started looking at stuff on makerworld and got on board pretty quick. Of course now I have a new “honey do “ list for once it arrives.

I too got a 3D printer for Christmas. I made a toy Big Grin

So I have a toy shelf I started around Covid in my office. I pulled out old Joes and started doing dioramas and getting new stuff etc. I mean the world is a shit show so why not play with toys.

I've always wanted to do a Rat Patrol (60s WW2 show I loved as a kid) thing. I could source the WW2 figures but never could source a proper 1:18 scale German half track. About a week ago I got to thinking about this again and suddenly I thought hey I got a 3D printer for Christmas I wonder.......

Well I found a tiny German half track model and I went to work resizing, cutting, changing a few things and cutting it in half in an attempt to make my "RAT PATROL" half track. I added some bits and bobbles and painted it a light sand in color (it looks lighter then it is).

All in all for only having a 3D printer since Christmas I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Just need to source my panzer grenediers. Smile

I’ve mostly made useful stuff like cable management, headphone holders, organization, custom battery holders etc. but the German SD KFz was my first “BIG” print

I've been making mostly practical knick-knacks, having done any multi-plate prints yet, and have only done 1 multi-color print, on accident. Ran out of 1 color & had to hot swap

Anyone remember the attempt to require micro printing on casings in CA? Legislation requiring technology that is non-existent, easily defeated, or so prohibitively expensive to essentially be unworkable?

Proposed WA bill would ban sale of 3D printers unless they have tech to recognize and block printing of “firearm parts”.

I have a bunch of filament arriving so so I guess I'll have to try this one.

I did the FlashForge AD5x. so far i am having a great time. I do plan on buying/building the enclosure kit for it.

I plan on doing a set of Form 1's this month and printing a series of suppressors. Also a bunch of other tools and such. I am having fun. Maybe that is the point.

(I have to do the suppressors before the govna outlaws them)

[acknowledged thread drift]
That's nuts. Would WA similarly limit sales of CNC machining equipment?

Just nuts.
