I don't tend to name inanimate objects.

For purposes of clarification, a boat is NOT an inanimate object...

I have never named a gun. I might name a boat, but I might not.

Unlike the scene in Full Metal Jacket, we weren't required to name our rifle in OCS. Like others, I've never named a gun. Never named an airplane either.

None of my guns have names. I don't see any reason for it.

Also never named any of my guns.

Had a few that were POS and one SW 629 that would clear out an indoor range.

I tend to call them by manufacturer, model number, and caliber. Sometimes I skip the manufacturer if it would be common knowledge. For example, Model 700 in 7mm REM Mag. I might abbreviate even further as in referring to my Interarms Mark X in 243 Rock Chucker as simply the Rock Chucker.

This ^^^^^

Nor do I name my... uh... body parts

I do refer to my Remington 700PSS as "Big Ugly Gun," because that's what my wife Christened it, and my AR as my "Evil Black Rifle," though.

Yup. I let the manufacturer name mine.

I will say I once met an armed security guard that named her duty revolver Roscoe.

I've known aircraft and boat owners that either kept the names already given to their new purchases, or named them after a rebuild.

I will admit that I have a pet name for two of my vehicles, one based on a personalized license plate the previous owner had creatively come up with for this off-road project truck, and the other I came up with based on a funny story for car that my Dad used to own and left to me after his death. I don't much like the car... and yet it really isn't a bad car, fairly reliable and fuel efficient...but I mostly drive it because it reminds me of my Dad, and refer to it by its funny pet name because of the condition I received it in.

Private Gomer Pyle : Sir! The private's weapon's name is Charlene, sir!

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman : Private Pyle, you are definitely born again hard! Hell, I may even allow you to serve as a rifleman in my beloved Corps.

Only object of this general class to get named was my Corvette canary yellow painted 1973 Dodge Challenger. Gal at work dubbed it the "Yellow banana!" Big Grin

None of my weapons have nicknames.
