I’ve read that sourdough bread is the most stable on blood sugar, etc. Anyone have any more knowledge regarding sourdough? Homemade seems to be the best option as store bought sourdough breads are made differently.

My recipe: Don't eat as much as you want.

No seconds or monster sized firsts.

Honestly.

It works, plus do exercise you like or can still do.

For me it cycling and working like a maniac in my large, tree filled yard. Right now I'm pruning trees by hand. Pole saw, chain saws, manual limb lopping and some digging at times. It's a bitch and provides lots of exercise thus weight loss.

Just through discussion I've seen, it seems that most store-bought options are not truly sourdough, so making it yourself is the best way. Sprouted grain breads are also good.

“Breakfast turns to gold, lunch to silver, and dinner to lead”

Food eaten and digested is turned into amino acids (protein), fatty acids (fat) short chain sugar molecules (glucose). Glucose is used by the body to convert ADP into its energy cell, ATP.

Once the body’s current energy need for ATP is fulfilled, it converts remaining glucose into long chains called glycogen. Glycogen is then stored in the muscles and the liver. Glycogen is used for short and medium term energy needs. Any remainder glycogen is then stored as fat.

Therefore the calories from a large meal eaten in the evening are primarily stored as fat. “Once a fat, always a fat”, this phrase refers to the body’s inability to burn fat by itself. Humans need to burn some carbohydrates while burning fat.

The following information may be of assistance when controlling body weight:

• When eating a high carbohydrate meal, be sure to include some protein plus fats/oils. The fat produces “carb specific satiety”, which reduces hunger for more carbs. If your meal includes some fat, usually within minutes the great desire for additional food, especially carbs, is diminished. I recommend that carbohydrate intake be approximately 10% of total food consumed.

• When some fat is included with the meal, the fat slows down digestion. This enables a person to burn the ingested calories, rather than quickly storing them as fat. An example is having one egg in the morning, with cereal.

• A third method to reduce fat storage is to eat slower digesting carbohydrates such as whole grains rather than food made from white flour. Replacing cold cereal (out of a box) with 9-Grain hot cereal provides energy for several hours duration. Of course, eating only a moderate amount of carbs is also effective.

• When eating in the evening, try to eat fairly early. 6:00 pm works well if sleeping by 10 pm. This gives your body a chance to burn the calories that were ingested at dinner. All extra calories not burned are then turned into fat.

• Fruits and vegetables provide quite a bit of nutrition, but eventually you have a strong desire for some protein and fat in the diet. Rather than overeating junk food when you become hungry, try eating good food and a balanced diet during the day.

• The more you exercise, the more you can eat. The best exercise for burning fat is medium intensity for moderate to long duration. Low intensity and very high intensity exercise burns mostly stored glucose, not fat.

• The most effective exercise is named “push-aways”. This is done when you push your self away from the dinner table before overeating.

-A handful of walnuts will keep hunger away in between meals.

-Breakfast: low-fat plain yogurt, fresh fruit, toasted almonds, honey or a little sprinkle of sugar.

-Great snack: apple slices with 2 table spoons of peanut butter.

I cook 1/2 of a Johnsonville Chorizo sausage (squeeze it out of the casing first), then when it's charred to my liking, I crack 2 eggs directly onto it in the pan, cook all of that up, then sprinkle about 1/4 cup sharp cheddar on top. Remember, pre-shredded cheese has carbs, so shred your own.... Makes a tasty breakfast that sticks to your ribs.

Pork chops are a cheap and often overlooked meat, and generally super easy to cook up quickly.

I also cook up a burger patty, then top it with cheese, then cut it up and spread it out over a bed of lettuce and tomato. I take a few dill pickle slices and spread out, then squeeze mustard and ketchup (easy on the ketchup) over it all, mix up, and wala, cheeseburger salad! Feel free to add onions or other garnishes (bacon if you have some), I just don't do that in deference to Mrs. Slabsides45.

As was mentioned, try to eat dinner early. If you can get at least 16-18 hours between dinner and your next meal, it's a mini fast and really helps get the weight off. I try to eat by 6 then skip breakfast the next day twice a week when I'm able, and it shows when I get it done.

Low carb works.

Proof. This is 14 months on the diet for me. I still have a ways to go. The best part...I feel so much better in every way.

Looking good Jeff.

One of my favorite, which I cook myself, is sauteed liver in butter and coconut oil. I put a side of sauerkraut and kimchee for my gut bacteria to snack on, and dashes of turmeric, pepper, lots of salt, allspice, onion powder, and garlic powder. I'd always eat liver with ketchup in the past, and I started with homemade ketchup when I went low carb (without the sugar), and found it's better with sauerkraut and kimchee. Just had this for breakfast as a matter of fact, along with full fat greek yogurt, blueberries, raw pumpkin and sunflower seeds, raw walnuts, and coffee.
