Was reading home invasion thread, someone mentioned not owning an AR. I wonder how prevalent that is among gun owners? I own only one, I bought it just because it's the American thing to do, almost like apple pie to me. Besides .22s it's the only rifle I own. Figured just in case of zombie apocalypse or home invasion or whatever.

Question:
Do you own an AR-15?

Choices:
Yes
No

Question:
Do you own more than 1?

Choices:
Just one
A couple
Threes company
4+
None

Just one for me as well. And just like you I bought it 'just because'. I own 12 rifles, a third of which are .22 LR. I do keep it close at hand and take it to the range on occasion just to stay familiar with the manual of arms with AR's.

You need to get on the Palmetto State Armory (PSA) email list...you will soon own several. They are currently offering complete lowers for $120. Around the fourth of July they had them listed for $99. At that price, everyone should own several. Mate it with one of their Freedom uppers and you have a complete AR for ~$300 - $350 or so.

At $99 I bought a few, but it's also because I have 2 boys who will each be getting one from me in a few years.

Lower for $120

Freedom upper for $219.

That's a complete rifle for $340, plus FFL fees, shipping, etc...

My ARs were lost in a boating accident. However, there is a gun shop in the area that has ARs in the low $300 range, as well as some in the $2K range. great selection on hand.

Right this minute I have three lowers (two stripped, one complete) waiting for me at my LGS from PSA. Picked them up during their awesome deals the last couple of weeks.

I own just one, BCM with a bunch of different components (Magpul, Ergo, Geiselle, Aimpoint, LaRue, etc). But my wife has one, and also my son.

I would hazard to guess that the AR15 is the most popular platform in the U.S. I have people tell me that the AR is so "military looking", and I tell them that the design is simply the aesthetic of the modern rifle. That the adjustable stock, pistol grip, etc. are all ergonomic advances for civilians, not just military. All industries, automobiles, bicycles, kitchen appliances, etc. have modern advances in design, and firearms is no different. Yet the commies want the firearm industry to go back to a 19th century paradigm.
