Good advice here. I suspect it would help against insurance sales creatures, too.

Easy to remember, but I doubt that I will ever run into one.

Not bad eating. The hard part is fitting them into your oven.

Ostrich skin boots are always popular too.

Okay, important safety tip.

Also never cross the streams.

It would be bad.

Could one not just tell the bird you will ring its f'n neck? Big Grin. I got my thumb bit when I was a child, feeding one a cracker through the fence.

If you gave it one of those karate chops to the neck, it would probably fuck it up for days. Plus, with so much neck, it would be hard to miss.

There's a couple of really nasty videos on Youtube of Giraffes fighting each other. They sling their long necks and beat the crap out of each other. They are really strong. Some get knocked out but get up before the other animals move in for the kill and the all you can eat buffet. Some Giraffes die in this sort of battle.

I thought about posting a link, but it's kinda shocking to see this. You can find it on the internet if you want.

I actually shot one once when I was a cop. One of the older guys came by after I shot it and he called someone to come get it, he told me the meat was a delicacy.

By the time I got downtown, the Chief had printed out a large ostrich target with points..this was maybe 15 years ago...last year my old captain sent me a tee shirt with a ostrich on it....whenever an article anywhere in the news comes up I get a buncha emails or FB posts asking if I know anything about it

And since this is a gun forum, I used a Bushmaster AR15 with a 16” heavy barrel (colt Leo clone) with Remington PSP 55grain bullets. I put three into the body cause I don’t know ostrich anatomy.

Many moons ago, myself and our mechanic/pilot, took our 206 over to Renton for a 5000 hour maintenance. On the way back, we went south to the Columbia River and followed it up aways before turning NE towards home. Aroundabouts The Dalles, OR, we overflew an ostrich ranch (low enough to discern tail numbers apparently). When we got home there was a complaint waiting as evidently you are not supposed to overfly ostrich ranches. Who knew. As I understand it, now, it tends to make them go a little crazy.

That wasn't our only mishap on that trip. We got a little too close to Hanford as well. Oops. I always thought I was a pretty good navigator. Big Grin

One of our Xray techs back then raised ostriches. She'd bring in jerky from time to time and it was wonderful. I wouldn't mind raising a couple myself, but I'm not really set up for it.
