Wasn't that Aeteocles who has already been mentioned? SDY did a lot of posting at one time but I seem to remember he had a falling out of some sort? People come and go from these forums for a lot of different reasons. But reading some of the names here that I had forgotten it seems quite a few have moved on.

I see 12131 has the correct name Ramius.

I'll tell you about the ones I know about, except for those I don't feel comfortable giving details.

In no particular order:

Doc Steve - he made the mistake of having (or allowing) his girlfriend to register here, and she did what women do from time to time (and far too often): she made a mess. Came in here, chastising the man, detailing his faults (yes, my brothers can relate). It happened more than once and I told him I just wasn't having it. I don't blame him. That's the truth, but I just could not have the personal drama between a man and woman playing out here in SIGforum. Doc Steve is welcome here, though I could understand if he doesn't believe that, because the last time we corresponded, I was...displeased.

Legal Beagle - he has or had some health issues in his family. I should give him a call. It's just about my greatest fault, that I neglect my friends, and he's a friend.

jehzsa - I love the guy. He was a great member. Funny, very sharp, great to have around. I'm just guessing, but I suspect that his disappearance has to do with some very pointed remarks made by members about immigration and our southern border. I called him, left a VM, never heard back. It's a shame, but a difficult situation.

Bamajeepster - left right around the time I disallowed discussion of the Superbowl.

My feelings about that circus, that obscenity remain unchanged, but I now realize that it was a mistake to allow my disgust to overtake my judgement. Thus:

Football fans, the Super Bowl is back on in SIGforum

Bamajeepster and his wife, coffeeaddict, are welcome here any time.

sdy - from all appearances, it was a mild admonition from me that caused him to leave:

https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...990078905#1990078905

I don't know what it was he said, because, as you can see, he deleted the contents of his post.

Now, let me point out something here: You might consider balancing out my little wrist slap, with the fact that I publicly praised the man, with a poem. How many members here can say that?

Dig it:

A coffeehouse poem from me and my cat, in honor of forum member sdy

I mean, straight from the fridge, dad.

Well, he took his football and went home, so...

B27 - This is ancient history, eighteen years ago.

In 2008, out of the blue, he decided to lecture me in the open forum about a statement I made, which was only half-serious; namely, that the rules here don't apply to me. The conversation which prompted this remark from me, I cannot recall, but let's get serious- a man, making the rules in his own house, has leeway, and that was my point.

In the day-to-day here, do you see me breaking the rules? Roll Eyes

The whole thing was so unnecessary. He barked at me and hey, surprise, I barked back. He then went over to Dinkville, aka The Island of Misfit Toys, and told them all about the big, bad mean admin, and he capped his remarks with "I can't go back over there."

Well, yeah, NOW you can't. If you had just left it alone, took a break for a day or two, everything would have been fine, but this is the way he wanted it, I guess. so...

Not my problem

erj_pilot - was admonished by me, expected deference which I was not inclined to grant. He took his principles and left. He's welcome here.

RHINOWSO - got sent to the woodshed with several other members over their ganging up on a particular member.

If fairness to RHINOWSO, he did get under my skin many times over the years but he always took it in stride. I guess getting yelled at for what he seems to think was completely justified behavior over this one particular member, was too much for him. He's welcome here.

sn3guppy- I'd have to go back and look at posts but his remarks were frequently disruptive with others, and he bugged me, too. It finally got to a point where I said basically, 'I've got your number' and he got the message. He would be welcome here if he could just cool it a bit, because aside from the static, his observations were- in the main- astute.

SIGnified - the superbowl thing. I was fed-up with it and he said...something to me, I don't recall. I guess it's still here in the forum if you want to look it up. He became uncomfortable with me after I responded to him.

Just as with other instances with other members, if he had just taken a break for a day or two, it would have been water under the bridge, but...

He's welcome here.

I'm a lot more forgiving than many people give me credit for, and I think I'm about as candid an admin as any discussion forum has, and honest about my own behavior, despite what some people seem to think. This thread should serve to illustrate that. Some guys who run forums such as this seem to think that they must appear infallible, and that's silly. I'm human. I make mistakes and I own up to those mistakes when I realize them, and try to correct them.

Thanks...
I myself have been admonished, although its been maybe 18 years ago now. I deserved it and appreciated the fact that Para was fair about it. In fact, I had a problem with a classified seller a short time after that and Para was very helpful. Smile

Thanks again sir!

I always liked Hal, screen name was something MN. I suspect time is the culprit unfortunately. We had some really long phone calls years ago and he was always very nice.

I know Jeff Yarchin is still around but he was another extremely respectable man, don’t see him post much.

Have a lot of respect for them both.
