Now I prefer home made and have a few great recipes, but sometimes its too much. Anyone have a good canned version, and what do you do to tune it up a little?

Wolf or Hormel are the only two I've ever had. I will buy either one but when I want a chili dog I usually go for Wolf. Top with some grated cheddar and some green onions. Damn now I want a chili dog!! "Fixed fortifications are monuments to mans stupidity" - George S. Patton

I prefer good ole Hormel without beans. -----------------------------------

I tried a Trader Joe's one at their little sample stand that was decent. Didn't buy any, but it wasn't disgusting. Beats the stuff I've tried for chili dogs from grocery store. Pro tip - If you have small amount of chili left over from homemade, freeze it in ziplock. Save for later date, dunk in bowl of warm water to quickly defrost and serve over dogs as you normally would. Best chili dogs EVER. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

The only canned chili I have tried that I found "not too bad" is Hormel Turkey Chili WITHOUT beans...but to be honest, I pretty much only use it on hotdogs...I will finish what's left over (I don't throw much food away) and add a little Sarachi to spice it up. ******************************************************** "we've gotta roll with the punches, learn to play all of our hunches Making the best of what ever comes our way Forget that blind ambition and learn to trust your intuition Plowing straight ahead come what may And theres a cowboy in the jungle" Jimmy Buffet

Ugh, I can't imagine eating canned chili. Next time you make a pot of homemade, double the recipe and freeze half of it in individual serving sized containers.

Same here. I add onion, cheese and some hot sauce. Jim ________________________ "If you can't be a good example, then you'll have to be a horrible warning" -Catherine Aird

Canned chili I like, surprised by the taste, is the 'Cattle Drive Gold' with beans from Costco. Also comes in a white bean and chicken breast style that has some spicy sauce. If you just need a chili fix without time to create a pot, for canned stuff it ain't half bad,

Although I'm sure I could probably learn how, I just never got around to learning how to make chili...or many other dishes...so, while I LOVE a good bowl of homemade chili I depend on family and friends for those. Otherwise, it's the canned stuff for me. Stagg and Wolf brands are my favorite, but also a little more on the expensive side...so Hormel, as a cheaper alternative is what I have eaten the most of. Bean, No Bean, Chunky, Turkey, had 'em all and enjoyed them all. I usually save them for chili cheese dogs during ball games...especially this time of year in Post Season play. Other than cheese, onions, and hot sauce I don't do anything to jazz them up.

Varallos canned chili made by Vietti. It can be found at Krogers in the area. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varallo%27s https://www.viettifoods.com/products/ __________________________________________________ If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit! Skyline chili. The frozen version is meatier than the canned version though.

I truly feel sorry for you and your family. Please stop this atrocity now! There are a million recipes online. Try any one of them, you will never return to the can. So easy a third grader can make it. Please cease and desist immediately and turn to YouTube. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

Since Armour (which required the fat to be skimmed off) hasn’t been on the shelves for some years, I switched to Wolf Brand and like it better. Homemade is still much better. *** "Aut viam inveniam aut faciam (I will either find a way or make one)." -- Hannibal Barca

Wolf tastes the best to me, but I will use Armor or Hormel to supplement with other things. --------------------- DJT-45/47 MAGA !!!!! Stagg brand is good. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

Heh, I first thought yuck, they're all bad. But wait, didn't I have one I actually liked? What was the name? Thanks for posting, that's the one, not half-bad. I don't mind Stagg either...but I haven't had canned chili in years... “People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” –Chuck Palahnuik Be harder to kill: https://preparefit.ck.page

Bush's Chili Magic chili starter. Add tomatoes, more beans (if you're not in Texas), meat if you want. Not bad.
