Probably a stupid question... What happens if a state trooper pulls you over while you are in Atlanta? Are all MJ laws county/city ordinances?

It's all about tax revenue and collecting it.

Back in the early 80s i wrote a paper claiming if the goobermint could figure out how to tax, they'd legalize it. Although at the time i figured it would've been the feds who legalized it and pushed it onto the states.

Eventually, it will happen everywhere.

Probably here, in MO, it will be one of the last states to happen.

But it IS going to happen, and most likely, in our lifetimes.

Couldn't tell ya, but if you read the article, you can see that the leftist staff at WSB is concerned about a group of people, most of who don't even have drivers licenses, much less an automobile.

Totally agree.

I travel into Las Vegas a good bit where it has been legalized in Nevada.

Interesting to see how it has transpired. It is still illegal on a Federal level - but not local / state. But it's not a pot free-for-all - lots of state regs concerning usage.

Another key component is that because it is still illegal on the Federal level... banks and Big companies are not much involved at this point ... the business development is at the small-business level.

When that changes you will see the landscape change dramatically.

Or a Job, desire for a job nor interest in a scholarship. It always about every law is racist or is it that there is a group f people that are constantly breaking said laws?

I expected Las Vegas to turn into Amsterdam with brighter lights.
There hasn't been any noticeable change other than a few billboards advertising new dispensaries.
A giant "shrug" seems to be the general attitude.
I'm certainly not noticing any impact, on the medical side.

Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall, who supports the proposal, said this is a racial issue.

“Ninety percent of the people who are in our jails for possession of marijuana are young African-Americans,” Hall said. “People are losing their jobs. People are losing their scholarships. Families are being torn apart for something that we should really be ashamed of.”

No perhaps you should be ashamed that the people you are pushing for reduced criminal punishment are engaging in criminal activity to begin with.

Doesn't matter if you are pro pot or not, the law is the law, and until its changed abide by the law and you won't go to jail or pay a fine.

Yeah so how about those DUI laws, racist because lots of the folks in jail that can't make bail and get out are not white so lets eliminate the law, whats next.

Good for Georgia.

Expect a lot of grumbling from the squares, and a huge increase in property value.

Colorado has seen a huge influx of transplants here for medical and personal liberty reasons. I'd like to see it legalized across the board so people quit moving here. The chunk of money we stand to make when we sell our house in the next few weeks is a nice consolation though.

I believe in freedom and personal liberty, call me crazy.

I disagree with its use. As I've said before, some adamantly assert it is not a gateway drug, but it was for one of my boys. Ultimately, he has lost years of development to drugs and addiction. It all began with weed.

That said, I believe in individual liberty tempered by personal accountability. So, I can see that it needs to be a choice the individual is free to make. If I cannot allow other people their liberty, I will not long keep my own. But I expect personal accountability also should someone cause damage while under the influence.

I don't believe in the concept of gateway drugs. I believe in bad decisions and personal accountability. Yes. People will be harmed by weed's legalization/decriminalization BUT I believe in a free society and those people are responsible for their own actions and decisions.

I loves the marijuana!! This week, we chopped down 14,000 pounds from 1 garden. On overtime. It will buy me cool stuff.

Personally, I don't care about weed. Its legal now, here. Can't stop it, wouldn't waste my time trying. I've never tried it, so can't say what the hype is. I don't like the drug trafficking organizations, and all the crime and grief that they bring with them. I get paid to enforce laws. Law says its legal now. I can quit, or move on to something else that is still a crime. Lets see- what is still a crime in CA....oh yeah- owning cool guns

I can't wait until it's as accepted and easy to get as alcohol.

I don't drink. I'd much rather enjoy a nice relaxing brownie before bed and wake up 100% refreshed and ready to crush the day.

I don't know how dangerous drugs like Ambien are legal when there's a perfectly natural and healthy sleep aid in the weed.

Edit: On second thought, as a pharmaceutical rep, I know exactly why.

I’m in Weed-Central and it seems like business as usual around here.

Every now and then one of those “driver arrested for marijuana DUI” articles pops up which leads to debate (and how they measure blood levels).

But man I think this world would be a whole lot more relaxed and chill if everyone smoked weed instead of drinking.

I choose not to participate but a lot of people around me do.
