Workers’ comp (defense). The red-headed step children of the insurance defense bar. Current job (my exit opportunity from prior toxic office , and the one which I’m now leaving on perfectly amicable terms) is general insurance defense. Lots of professional liability, CGL, EPLI, you name it… just no workers’ comp, which is an incredibly niche area.

Being their only staff counsel in Maryland, I’ll likely pick up some personal lines business as well.

Congratulations, Rob!
It's not just the pay and benefits, it's feeling really appreciated that makes it great, especially coming off jobs in which that was not the case. At least that how I felt about my last job.

As someone who knows how bitter work situations can taste, congratulations!

I hope you enjoy your crumpets and tea with your pinkie extended. (I don’t know how that’s congratulatory but it’s the picture that came to my mind of someone sitting in the proverbial cat’s bird seat.)

That’s a great win and story.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
