That rug really tied the room together. |
Yames Yeager pleaded with Surefire to build a better handheld light for tactical use. And they decided to build it, to his specs. Supposedly be available sometime in the next two months or so. Looks promising. Looks like price point will be in the $150 range. http://www.candlepowerforums.c...7-Surefire-tactician Video review **Links Removed**This message has been edited. The 'shoot at me unless you're from the Mid East' guy? By yimminy!! I'd rather that this forum not be used to drive traffic to that weirdo's youtube videos. I don't want to put any money into his pocket, because of his wildly unsafe techniques.

I still haven't found anything that can beat the Fenix TK11. Two modes, high/low, push-click on/off with momentary on by light pressure, and runs forever on an 18650 with 800 or so lumens. I don't think Fenix makes them right now, though. Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. I carried one on duty. I dropped it ONCE. And it was permanently broke after that. Still broken in a drawer, as customer service told me too bad, so sad. I wouldn't consider Fenix to be a good defensive use light. Nothing more than a hobby light, for the kids. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

Well, don't care for Yaeger's antics....but I do like the much wider beam and his tip about the elastic lanyard and method of holding looks good as well. The larger hotspot beams never made sense to me for HD and general street use, especially as the lumens started getting crazy. However, a 500-1000 lumen light with a nice flood beam is perfect for HD and will throw as far as you'd ever need to for self-defense/LE. At lease 25+yds at any rate. “People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” –Chuck Palahnuik Be harder to kill: https://preparefit.ck.page

I've used it, and a TK10 before it, for 10 years. Dropped both plenty of times. No issues. I'll take lucky. I always carry 2 lights, though. If it ever caps out ill have a second, and a 3rd in the car. Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Sorry, bubbatime, but I removed those links to Yeager's reviews.

Indeed. I find his videos highly annoying and think he's self-aggrandizing and self-promoting, pandering heavily to the "tacticool" crowd.

I used to buy Surefires exclusively, but their time has passed. I own 3 Nitecores and an Olight for the wife's purse. More output options per flashlight and brighter output light than I got out of any Surefire..

I've carried a fenix for many years and dropped it more times than I count all without issue. I have a few on weapons as well and all function flawlessly. You might have just gotten a bad one that was a fluke, not the norm.

What I was thinking. "Yeager pleaded with Surefire", and they obliged. Really? Morons. Q

My yard is 100+ yards on each side. I'd rather have the ability to identify something within my yard, especially if looking for secondary/additional threats. Human or animal. Neighbor has chickens and lost a few to something like a fox or coyote fairly recently. I just bought a 1200 lumen light that runs on 2x 26650's.
