My highly ADHD 6th grader’s response was “huh, there’s going to be a protest?” Because although he is a smart and great kid, he has the permanent memory of a goldfish.

This made me smile some. My 11 year old ADHD/Autistic son has the memory retention of a goldfish too, but he can figure out how to building shit in his Minecraft game that would make an architect say WTF?

Beers on me dad!

That’s honestly part of the problem with kids today. No more Saturday morning cartoons followed by getting kicked out of the house to go play all day.

Kids are not allowed to just be kids anymore.

Her father is not happy. He is very involved in the shooting sports, and in the shooting community here in Northern Virginia...

Waitaminute...

Probably I should know better than to even ask, but how is it a child is being allowed to do this? What happened to "Not while you're living under my roof, you won't?"

Uhm... Just occurred to me... 3/14... Isn't that International Pi(e) Day? Are you certain they're not marching to support Pi(e)?

I thought the original protest was scheduled for 3/24, which is a Saturday, and we're turning into #MoneyBombTheNRA day?

I had a brief conversation with my kids today and told them that they will absolutely not be walking out of school for any reason without first sitting down with me and their mom and being able to justify their position.

Neither had heard of any walkout planned anyway.

You walk out of school without a REALLY good justification, and you are grounded for a month. Make that 2 months. No cell phone, no games, no TV, nothing fun.

Actions have consequences, and being a dumb ass leftist protestor will not be tolerated in this household. Understood?

So true. We were kicked outside to play all the time. And it was all good. Learned how to play hockey, soccer, football, baseball that way.

Then...later....I grew up.

Liberalism is the philosophy of the future...and it always will be.
...because naive young people keep growing up, gaining experience and knowledge, and becoming "conservatives'.

Strongly opposing their "right to be naive" may actually be counterproductive in the long run.
I support their "right to be naïve"--I just don't support the idea that the rest of us have to pay attention to it or let it influence anything important. Children should be under the control of adults all the time. (Even when I was playing outside with my friends as a child, I was "under the control of adults" because (1) my parents allowed me to be doing it, and (2) virtually every mother in the area was keeping an eye on things surreptitiously--not much happened that one of them didn't know about.)
