For the National protest walkout whatever the hell they are calling it this Wednesday

Her father is not happy. He is very involved in the shooting sports, and in the shooting community here in Northern Virginia

I found out because she was texting my two sons to try and get them to protest as well

My highly ADHD 6th grader’s response was “huh, there’s going to be a protest?” Because although he is a smart and great kid, he has the permanent memory of a goldfish

My sophomore asked if she was borrowing any of her dad’s NRA stuff because if not I might have some extra Smile. That pissed her off. Then he told her there was en equal chance of winning the lottery to him participating in that shit

I love my boys

I’m keeping them home in Wednesday. Our county has already said teachers shouldn’t do anything “academically intensive” so students that want to participate won’t be penalized

What the fuck is that. Protest has meaning because there is a sacrifice for beliefs. How can it be sacrifice if there are no consequences?

There have been a ton of threats to schools since this shit has come down for those days. Most are kids being idiots, but I did see police issued s BOLO for an armed and dangerous 18 year old making threats against high schools in the adjacent county to mine

Easy decision for me. Everyone gets to sleep in. Maybe we will go see a movie.

It infuriates me that the left is using children to spread their lies. It infuriates me more that they are doing protests on school time. In other words, on the taxpayer's dime.

My kids are off this week. Maybe I'll take them to the NRA range. It's similar to other gun ran ranges, but more evil.

The endoctrination of the public school is never ending. Why don't Christian or catholic schools have these problems or mass shootings?

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Well, there was that Quaker school. But IIRC, he was an adult pedophile.

The left will use any means necessary to get what they want and only what they want. Thank goodness we have the rights we do in this country, for now. Europe should be an example of what the left wants us to become-weak and obedient to the government.

Sadly, they are just a younger crop of "useful idiots" being raised by the left to do their bidding.

99.9% of those kids are just participating because it's another day off from school.

From a local news article:

quote:
Everyone who's walking out will have a different opinion. I think the walk out, if nothing, will create change. Obviously something is wrong," said Lucy Glassberg, an eigth grader at Laurelhurst Elementary.

quote:
Over the weekend, Lucy started to write her speech . She'll give the speech in front of her fellow students. The teen will be talking about gun control and mental health.

"She's learning all of this with us. I don't know how to explain it at all actually," said Kathryn Glassberg, Lucy's mother.

Take aways:

1) There is no consensus from this demogragphic: no ask, no solutions being possed (except "woo-hoo, no school today!")

2) They are all just learning as they go. (maybe that's why you should stay in school--learn, then act)

This sounds like a brilliant foundation for infringing on someone's individual, fundamental Constitutional right.

I'm not sure you can establish enough legitimate state interest to pass the strict scrutiny (Supreme Court's Constitutional test for infringement of a fundamental right), but hey, let's set all that aside and let teenagers decide our destiny.

There is a reason why high schoolers cannot vote: until you reach the age of majority, you are not "the future," you are a "dependent."

Ifor I had kid in a school district, and they did this, I'd be crawling up the assessment of the entire administration (principal, commissioner, school board members, etc.) about this. It should be treated as a regular school day, and anyone out (students or teachers) should be penalized accordingly.

This is why I send my kids to private school. There is not even talk or discussion about this in our school.

If there was, as a paying customer, I'd have the ass of the administration for allowing it.

And right there is why this action will fail. The "free shit" crowd will lose interest when hard times befall.

They should be protesting the failures of the school administration and Sheriff Dept if they truly understand what allowed that tragedy to happen.

If it is any consolation: I was a protester in high school too.
Then...later....I grew up.

Liberalism is the philosophy of the future...and it always will be.
...because naive young people keep growing up, gaining experience and knowledge, and becoming "conservatives'.

Strongly opposing their "right to be naive" may actually be counterproductive in the long run.
