When I was just a little tyke, 1955 or so, I spent a lot of time with my Aunt Omah.

She was a world-class cook, the Queen of Country Cuisine. She made her own donuts from scratch.

Just plain, unadorned cake donuts, deep fried on top of her stove. It was torture to smell them and have to wait for them to cool enough to eat, but Sweet Baby Jesus, it was worth it.

Nothing on this planet even comes close. Aunt Omah's donuts and a glass of whole milk right out of the cow. As close to heaven as I ever expect to get.

Our little town saw a new donut shop open up about a year or so ago. At the time I thought it wouldn't last long but that place has been buzzing since it opened. Heck, I stop in at least once a week for a box of their glazed. They are to die for. Smile

I love donuts. Big Grin

Just have to work out a little more after eating them. Not a problem since working out is a little more fun than eating donuts.

My new favorite shop is Duck Donuts. I usually buy a bucket (18) every week, with assorted frosting and toppings, for the line crew in our FBO. Every donut is hot and so easy to eat. The Maple with Bacon topped with Salted Caramel drizzle is a favorite.

Had one yesterday, vanilla icing with mini M&Ms sprinkled all over it. Now I'm off to the gym.

I run crazy amounts specifically for the purpose of being able to indulge in donuts!

We have a marvelous local, mom & pop donut shop in town. I will pay them a visit today.

Wanna hear my donut shop story? Good, I'll tell it. My wife's sisters son bought an old time bakery in a dying downtown area. Jeff's Bakery Court av 47130.

He is good and he thrived but location/lack of parking hurt him.

An Amazon distribution center opened on the outskirts of town near st rd 62 exit off the new interstate bridge over the Ohio River. Jeff closed downtown and moved in between the exit and Amazon. His product seemed to get even better and he's open 24 hrs a day now. Gold Mine! If you're ever in S Indiana on the 265 loop around Louisville take the 10th St/hwy62 east exit and about a mile on the right, just past Dollar General, there's a strip center with Jeff's Bakery, aka Donut Heaven.

I always heard if you eat your donuts standing up you won't gain weight.

Is it OK if I went to the local place that is way better than Dunkin'??
Took the boy there this morning. He had a glazed and I had chocolate yeast and a caramel yeast! None of those cake donuts for me.

I'm thru that area a few times a year, the GF is thru there a lot more often than that. What grocery store are you talking about? I would like to add it to the points of interest for the next trip. Smile

Went to the Saturday farmer's market in Madison, Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago. I'm sitting around enjoying a pleasant morning and I notice the only police officer in sight. He makes a bee line to the only booth selling donuts. Bought a bag of them. I declined at $1.50 each.
