Alea iacta est |
Figured I would share our weekend adventure from three weeks ago. Mrs. Cooker did a fair bit of video, and I put all the clips together into a video to share with you all. The video does no justice for what the trail is really like. It’s a lot worse than it looks in most spots. I hope you enjoy! This message has been edited. I didn't hear or see any scrapes on those new sliders you got! And it's pretty cool how you stick to the side of the cliff at about 1:00. Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet. - Dave Barry "Never go through life saying 'I should have'..." - quote from the 9/11 Boatlift Story (thanks, sdy for posting it)

Out of curiosity, did you air down? Like to the 15-17 psi range. Based on some of the light squeals (loss of traction), if you didn't, you might have seen increases in traction. Stay safe. Looks fun.

I didn’t air down. Ideally I won’t have to and can run on street psi to all the places I want to go. Second reason, I don’t have a compressor I can take with me. Until I get one, I probably won’t. I didn’t scrape the new sliders yet. There was only one point if contact all day, and when I went over a crevice, the hitch banged slightly. Hoping to get out to a trail later today, or first thing tomorrow morning. The “lol” thread

While living in East Tennessee my friend used to love riding old logging trails. He was driving a conventional car so it got pretty interesting at times.

Ahh, good to see a fellow Tacoma 3rd gen owner out and about. Mine is used mainly as a carry all transportation rig. I'd take it out camping but right now its much hotter in SC than I care to go out in.

That it is. I'm in the CSRA and it's not likely to get bearably cool until fall.... I did replace the tin can skid plate on my Tacoma with 1/4 steel. I do love my Tacoma. Haven’t gotten stuck yet, kinda looking to use the “crawl” setting.

Striker in waiting |
Last time I hiked Broken Arrow up to chicken point, there was a guy in a stock Chevy Astro van making his way up the ORV trail. His woman was spotting for him and obviously skilled at the task. We got up to the point before they did - just in time to see the looks on the faces of all the Jeep drivers when he parked his Astro right between a couple of tricked out Rubis. Got a good laugh out of that one. Don’t think he could take it up Schnebly Hill, though. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

Powerline or Schnebly. One of those two are on the radar for this weekend. The “lol” thread

It must be really nice to be able to off roading somewhere that doesn't involve waist deep mud holes. There is a reason why we call going off roading here... going mudding. Collecting dust.

Schnebly is more of a dirt road with really only about 2 sections that provide any challenge. Of course is is always entertaining to watch some who think their Subaru is an off road vehicle only to find out it isn't. Then there's the long black streaks after they've whacked the oil pan on a rock... Definitely some great views from up there! My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

That’s awesome wheeling is one of the few things I miss from before kids. I used to have a lifted 98 Cherokee that was locked up front with sliders and lift. That thing was a blast and honestly need to get another now that the kids are getting older.

That is where we went today. It’s a long, seriously bumpy dirt road. Zero technical challenges. My oh my, there was quite the views though. I’ll add some more pics that my wife took in a while. She needs to air drop them to me first. The “lol” thread

Very nice! Video doesn't do justice to the change in elevations. In the end I thought your wife was brave (or crazy lol) to be taking pictures in front while you were descending the trail. Living the Dream

Me. On US-60 east of Superior I tried a narrow track overland. For about 80 yards. Not as worried for the oil pan as for the steering and suspension components. But yeah, you think you're punching your man ticket and punch out an oil pan, you're two hours from a highway where NO ONE stops, and it is another two hours to walk into town ...

You could have walked it faster but wouldn't have gotten as much exercise as your truck did ... Nice
