Who here has purchased a foam mattress?

Do you like it? Is it worth it?

My 8yr old stupid-expensive pillow-top mattress is killing my back. I've always wanted to try a foam mattress.

I went and looked at purple and they are as expensive as any other traditional mattress.

I then found several makers:
https://casper.com/mattresses/
https://www.dreamcloudsleep.com/premier-mattress
https://www.nectarsleep.com/premier-copper-mattress

They are about half the price of traditional mattresses.

Anyone use any of these? Thoughts in general about foam over traditional?

Thanks!

My wife and I have replaced 2 of our mattresses with IComfort models. The ones we purchased are pretty firm. We love them.

We bought a Casper from Costco a couple years ago. We love it so much better than the traditional mattress we had before. It hasn't sagged during the couple years we have owned it. It sleeps warm in the winter and cool in the summer. We sleep on traditional sheets in the summer and microfibre in the winter. I would buy again. The 'Purple' is probably similar.

We've had a Tuft & Needle one for 4 years now. It has definitely had a positive effect on back pain from sleeping for me....pretty much eliminated it.

mygreenmattress.com is who we used and LOVE it! It's a latex hybrid, and they are semi-firm without being too stiff. Doesn't get all hot/sweaty like most memory foam beds. Extremely high quality materials and construction; I can't recommend them enough!

I recently bought a Puffy brand mattress and am happy with it so far.

Got a Casper hybrid a couple months ago and it's been great so far. Hybrids can be pricey but very happy with it.

All foams are not the same. That’s like saying all liquids are the same.

I like pure solid latex. Not inexpensive, but not as bad as others. (Cheaper than many Tempurpedic.).

Great support all over, no heat issues. It is heavy and difficult to move.

A member here expressed big concerns about flammability.

Seems he discarded one on a fire of some sort and W O O F !
It was gone in no time.
Wonder if there are regulations of Some sort.

I bought a NovaForm Comfort Grande 14 Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress in July of 2020 for our Guest Room. Regular $499 with $100 off at that time. Label shows it as between a Medium and a Firm mattress.

I've only slept on it about a dozen times, usually when one of us is sick. I like it better than our older (20 years ?) Select Comfort mattress. I keep trying to get the wife to swap mattress, but she like the Select Comfort better.

They are great and I'm a big guy. We have an inexpensive Nova from Costco after returning two regular type under warranty. It has been a big improvement over the last three years.

I love mine. I believe it’s the Purple before it became the Purple (many years old). I had a “pillow top” before that and there was no comparison in comfort.
It has compressed a little on the most-used area over the years, but that has made no difference in how it feels.

My sister just bought a Purple. It has a really good policy on returning if you don’t like. I think it’s like 6 months.

Talalay latex mattress has been the best bed I’ve ever slept on. Way better than memory foam.

We're up for a new bed. This thread looks exactly like the YouTube and miscellaneous internet reviews we've seen...as many brand suggestions as posts.

Here's a better question, particularly for those buying a mattress online with "a X night trial"...how is the return process?

They gave me terrible elbow pain. Didn't figure out right away, I suffered a while not realizing it was related to the new bed. Side sleeper, arm at my side. Sink into the foam, end of the arm raises not well supported. Hours of hyper extension. Other than that, I loved the bed. lol Once I figured it out, did things different and waited several months, the issue was gone.

Won't give the name because they seem to be out of business. It did not last that long IMO, six years?

Bought a "Brooklyn Bedding" (?) (they're not from Brooklyn) hybrid one after that. Springs and foam. I don't think it's going to last anywhere near 5-6 years. I'm pretty disappointed with it. (and my elbows are worse than ever lol)

This is what we have as well.
If you want a hybrid for good price, look at IKEA.
