My dad sent me this photo, the town came and trimmed some trees on his property. Workers must have had something better to do.

They left this:

Lazy ass motherfuckers!

"The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. At Rotterdam, London, Warsaw and half a hundred other places, they put their rather naive theory into operation. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind."

Sadly I've seen that maneuver a number of times.

Makes me shake my head every time I see it.

Con Edison did this to a tree at my house in NY. I’m rarely there but it was an eyesore for the neighbors so I finally posted a photo along with their description of their process to their FaceBook page. The tree was gone when I was there next.

Q: Who performs Con Edison‘s tree work?
We hire utility-certified professional foresters who are specially trained in preserving trees’ health and follow International Society of Arboriculture pruning guidelines.

Q: How can I be sure that my trees will be professionally trimmed?
A: Our professional foresters follow tree-pruning techniques recommended by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI A300- Utility Pruning Standards) and the International Society of Arboriculture, which ensure healthy pruning practices. Con Edison employees that are trained and certified as arborists review all the planned and completed work to make sure we keep trees healthy.

Devil's Advocate here.

Those look like 1" diameter support cables. Not at all bothered by the branch that has grown around it. I suppose they could have removed more of the piece, risked destroying the chain on the saw. Even if they unfastened one end of the cable, I doubt that piece would slide off.

That is what they make hand saws for.
