Need new high performance tires and am also considering some high end aftermarket wheels and a new TPMS. Has anyone used Tire Rack? What has been your experience, good or bad?

Thanks in advance!

Have used them twice. Bought tires and had them shipped to a shop. The only issue I encountered was with the second set of tires. They're OEM but were old, so the sidewalls were softer than the ones already on the car at the time of purchase.

My experience was good but this was back in 2001 or so. This is before Discount Tire really exploded and expanded.

I would ask around locally first and see what they can do to match or come down in price. When you factor in shipping, tax and installation, the prices are quite close to buy local if not better. Plus you get the service of being local for a warranty issue.

I ended up getting the rear tires for my 2003 Z06 at Discount. It was roughly the same price as if I would've bought online. They had to order them, only took a day to come in.

Some shops want to charge extra for installation for 17" and larger wheels. Pretty much all cars these days come with 17"+. If Tire Rack has a warehouse in your state, you'll be charged tax. Shipping will be charged, at least $30 per tire, I believe.

I bought 4 tires from them a year ago and had them shipped to NTB for installation because NTB had the best installation price.

However, NTB charged me more than the prices stated on Tire Rack. I called Tire Rack, email them copies of the invoice, and Tire Rack refunded me the difference.

In my opinion they are good to go.

I generally try to support local for tires and wheels. Local shop will meet TR prices (and on some occasions, beat).

Sometimes they’ll match the TR price; other times they’ll match TR + shipping. I’m okay supporting local as long as the total price is about the same.

Otherwise, IME, TR has been gtg.

Have used them many times for tires ranging from F-350's to my Porsche turbo.

All the tires were relatively new and good to go. BTW, I buy Michelin almost exclusively.....

I used them a couple of times with success, having them shipped to my local shop. But when it finally occurred to me to ask the shop if they could beat the deal... they did, every time.

I had an RX-7 many moons ago and would order Bridgestone Potenza tires through TireRack.com and have them shipped to Firestone for mounting, balance, etc. Seemed to always work OK for me...

Ordered BF Goodrich All Terrain TAs mounted on American Racing wheels for my Jeep. They arrived on time and were balanced properly. No issues. Planning on using them again.

I had good experiences there. Had two sets done in the past 7-8 years at the South Bend HQ -- I live less than 30 min away.

Good experiences as well. I've ordered "just tires" and also once did a "wheel & tire" package.

I have used them five times now and very pleased with their service & price. Into SEPA from their base in Delaware, no tax, ~$30.00 shipping. My walking distance Meinaki mounts for a reasonable cost. Same shop that has looked after my two Honda Pilots since new, (05 & 07). I have never done a price shop as when this question comes up here, the answer is usually swings & roundabouts...

Been ordering tires from them for over 10 years. I get the from the Newark, DE warehouse and have them the day after I order.

Never a single issue, not ever. And I've ordered at least 10 sets of tires from them for various vehicles.

I walked into my local Discount Tire store. Asked them the cost for mounting, balancing, etc., a set of tires from Tire Rack.

Discount offered to sell me better tires for less total cost.

I ordered a set of wheels and tires along with new TPMS sensors. I had them mounted, balanced and sent directly to my house. They came much quicker than expected and the balance was perfect. The TPMS sensors worked perfectly as well. And while my local shop would match the price on the tires, he would not meet the price for the wheels.
