Thank you Very little |
Glad she's ok, first time I've heard of it, as to the empty ER, makes you wonder how many people end up going to the ER that don't really need to go and load it up on a nightly basis. Perhaps less cars on the road, less accidents, less trauma, less patients...

Get my pies outta the oven! |
Wow, that had to be scary. I've heard that this can happen to baby boys where they can get one on their penis! We were told if one of our infant boys seemed in distress and pain and could not settle down to check their penis for a hair tourniquet. That just makes me cringe.

That happened to a friends little girl. I’m glad you were able to get it addressed. __________________________ "Trust, but verify."

Glad it worked out for you. I just got back from our hospital. Only one COVID patient hospitalized at present. Things were very quiet. There was a long table with two nurses handing out masks and hand sanitzer. This was the one side entrance not the ER. I had to have some labs done and there were only two other patients wearing masks. Elective procedures started back on Monday. Things are slowly moving back to normal.

Also makes you wonder how many people treat the Emergency Room like GP's office. Glad everything worked out for you and yours. Scary for a wee baby for sure.

I am glad she is well. Like everyone else, I never knew such a thing was possible. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Wow! That was a hard decision to make but obviously the right one. I'm glad you made that call.

^^^^^^ There has been some change in that as of late. People are scared and frightened. My pharmacist friend told me that the most prescribed drug last year in the ER was Claritin. This Covid scare has gotten to a number of the frequent flyers in the ER, and they are staying away.

That was crazy to read, never heard of such a thing. Great job noticing this. Glad the ER was empty so you got the focus she needed. HK Ag

Having worked in ED’s and hospitals for many years, I can tell you that the vast majority of ED visits—in my experience—were not emergencies. However it’s very disturbing that people are so afraid of seeking medical care—and this without any regulations to discourage it. There is a whole lot more fear and panic out there than we realize, I’m afraid. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

I am not at all keen on going to the ER generally, particularly even more so now, however when a little ones appendage is on the line, I would absolutely go. Glad it turned out ok.

I’m glad that you had a good result for your daughter. Nothing scarier as a parent than taking a young, helpless, child to the ER, especially in these times. Just spoke with a nurse on her way in for a shift at one our local hospitals. We were social distancing while waiting in line at a favorite local coffee shop. She said they are union, so they haven’t had any layoffs, but they have to take two furlough days each pay period. The other hospital laid folks off. Their big excitement recently was someone totally snapped a collarbone in a mountain biking accident so he got emergency surgery, but other than that they are scrambling to look busy, wiping down tables, etc. She said the only current entrance to the hospital is through a temperature checkpoint and symptomatic folks go to a totally separate part of the hospital where nobody comes in contact with them. Spacesuits? She said right now is the best time ever to go to the ER.

Good work dad. I can understand how it happens. Wife has long hair and it gets everywhere. One day I had a toe that hurt enough for me to take off my shoe and sock and there was a hair wrapped around the toe in question. I chalked it up to a weird totally random happening. A little kid without the ability to voice the issue or fix it is a different ball game.

10mm is The Boom of Doom |
To try and prevent this, our kids' pediatrician recommended washing all socks, and footy pajamas inside out. He said that hair and loose string can get down in the socks and cause terrible mischief for the little ones. God Bless and Protect the Once and Future President, Donald John Trump.

Mine are in their teens now, but I’m filing this little factoid away. Glad it worked out. -- I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. JALLEN 10/18/18 https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...610094844#7610094844

Holy crap! I’ve never heard of that one, but it’s good to know. And damned good you made the decision to take her in, then the decision to let the surgeon make a cut. I’m glad she’s doing well with no damage. Sig P226 .40 S&W Sig SP2022 9mm RIA 1911 Gov't .45 ...and more

I have treated a few of these in my medical career. It gets even scarier when it is around a baby boy’s private parts! As others have stated, my personal opinion after close to 2 decades working in emergency medicine about 70% perhaps more of reasons people present to the ER for are not emergent conditions. It remains to be seen if after this covid scare if the large number of minor illness and injury patients return or continue to avoid the ER.
