We have had our LG for 5 years now and it has been nothing but trouble. It has 5he linear compressor. It is currently in the shop being repaired again. Only 1 month left on warranty. The service tech said the LG are his most troublesome. Current issue is no gas left in compressor. He was going to try to replace everything he could before the warranty runs out. If he can’t get it fixed he said they will prorate some money back towards a new one and only trusts Whirlpool or GE.

Make sure you have enough height for the bottom freezer. You will need about a 68" high opening.

Frigidaire/Electrolux is OK in side by sides but we have had some issues with the bottom freezers.

GE is owned by Chinese Haier

And friends don't let friends buy LG or Samsung

Just be forewarned, no one has much in inventory right now. We are seeing lots of stuff dating mid October or later

Thanks Brad!
Fridge opening in the kitchen is 39w x 71h, so I don't imagine fitment issues with the majority of 'standard' size units.

Have a Whirlpool as a maybe, showing about a week lead time, did notice some showing unavailable until Nov-Dec.

Just working up on stomaching the purchase.

Luckily, our Kitchen Aid has been great & still going strong after 10 years.

My cousin is the Appliance Brad of the East. His favorites are Whirlpool and Kitchenaide. I have a 20 year old Whirlpool in my garage, still going strong, it is a SbyS. Only took it out to upgrade everything to SS.
Everything in our kitchen is one of those 2 brands and no trouble with them in 7 years.

We bought a new KitchenAid refrigerator, upper french doors, bottom freezer drawer model. Nothing on the doors, ice maker and filtered water (left hand side) both inside. Bought in 2.5 years ago, no issues. I have a few friends that used to have Samsung and LG units, they all regretted their purchases.

Word!!!!

Our LG compressor bit the dust. Just out of our extended warranty, they said the compressor was still covered under warranty, all we had to pay was the installation charge.

I cannot recommend LG!!! Mad

I’ll echo what others have said about avoiding Samsung. Washer, dryer, stove, dishwasher and fridge have all had issues. Replaced the washer with an LG and so far, so good.

Avoid any model with an LG compressor.
They are found in many other company's fridges.
Troublesome and VERY expensive to repair.

THIS. I was at Lowe's yesterday and bought a new side by side, and they did have a lot in stock in their warehouse in South Florida right now of Whirlpool and Frigidaire side by sides and they have decent sales compared to when I price shopped a month ago. I went with a Whirlpool side by side.....the top freezers and french door still seemed spendy even at sale prices....... But I think stock is starting to catch up.

I'll add another vote for Whirlpool. I have a Whirlpool Gold top freezer model that's 16 years old and zero repairs. When it dies, I'll go for another one. My last non-WP was a GE: it was the Yugo of the appliance world.

Another hell no to LG.
While it lasted we loved it. Then the compressor went out just after warranty expired.
Too hard to get service call, or anyone to service , so we went for basic Whirlpool
So far so good.

I’ve had two Samsung fridges. One in the house, one in the garage. Never an issue. Both were rock solid. Sold a house and left one. Still have one. Still working fine with not one issue.
Moved to AZ. Bought a house. Has a Frigidaire Gallery in the kitchen, and the good ole Samsung in the garage. Samsung is where all the veggies and good food is stored. That Frigidaire POS freezes the veggies and most anything on the top shelf. The middle shelves struggle to keep a temp of 40°.

I have never had an issue with my Samsung’s. The only Frigidaire is a worthless pile of shit. My Rtic cooler is more reliable.

My pops had an LG. Numerous issues. Three different compressors, burned up LED lights, replacement fridge. It bit the dust. He bought a Samsung. No looking back and no issues.

With the Covid so many factories have had problems keeping up. There is a lot of allocation going on. Ge and Samsung have cut back on new orders to catch up on demand and to fulfill old orders. If you wait until you really need an appliance you may not get what you really want. The amount of models with sale prices has diminished as manufacturers are not offering promo pricing to retailers.

Black Friday has morphed into a month long event. At the last “virtual convention” a lot of the manufactures said “Black Friday” offers will be smaller and the duration shorter.

We had a neighbor give us their 8-10 year old subzero about 5 years ago. That thing runs awesome. I like it a lot. It's in my garage as an overflow freezer and holds my beer...because it doesn't fit in the house without customizing the cabinetry.

The frigidaire in the house works ok. It's 6 years old, and the handles come loose every year, and it seems to consume a lot of electricity. It's a mid-tier level. It came with the house.

I've heard nothing but trouble with Samsung from the people we know (3) who spent more than I would spend on such a fridge.

Maytag isn't built in this country anymore, and I don't believe frigidaire is either. I don't know where sub-zero is built...but I'm not sure I care how much they cost, I'd probably try to stick with them. In fact, when I build my house...if it can handle the electrical load, I'll put my garage fridge in it. The dual compressors are repairable and my understanding is that parts are well supplied. It's very well built.

I don't get it w/ LG and Samsung. Generally high tech companies - fridges should be piece of cake.

I don't know anybody who has favorable things to say about their appliances. And I don't know why Costco continues to carry them.

You’re wrong, and need to check your facts.

I’m an employee, and Maytag/Whirlpool/KitchenAid/Amana/Jenn Air bottom freezer refrigerators are all built with pride in Amana, Iowa. Our washers, dryers, freezers, dishwashers, KitchenAid stand mixers and small appliances, are all built in Ohio. Ranges and stoves are built in Tennessee and Oklahoma. While a global company, most appliances are manufactured reasonably close to the end customer. If you want to support a top tier appliance manufacturer based in the USA, you won’t go wrong with our brands.
