One of these to 'secure' a sliding door between a bedroom and bathroom:

Question:

Hook on the:

1. Frame

2. Door

I lean towards 1. but what say you all?

Hook on the door. It moves, one handed operation.

Otherwise you are holding the hook left hand closing door with right.
Or closing the door then latching.

I don’t know if there is an official way but damn, whatever makes sense to you lol.

It’s your house yeah?

I almost always see the hook on the moving part and the eye on the fixed part, dunno why. Since the screw threads are the same on the different parts, shouldn't be too tough to swap them if the initial install isn't working.

I'm thinking flush mount magnets if it is to be simple hold in place.

If it is to prevent a small human from opening the door, then as Otto said, put it on how it "feels" right to you.

I like magnets best also, but if you want a hook and eye latch, put the hook on the door.

Hook on the frame for me. It swinging back and forth with the door opening/closing would get annoying.

Frame would've been my vote too.
