Did someone try and booby trap this shotgun?

Part of Vince Foster's estate sale. Included with it was a card with a personal inscription: From Hil to Vince. Give it your best shot!

For the record, I also suspect that through some random event, the .380 round got into the pre-existing hole. But the truth is far too boring for a prize.
