<snip>

My current favorite is White Cheddar Cheez-Its. Generally better than Original, but the aftertaste of the White Cheddar variety is especially fine, and pronounced.

But yes, I will try the Extra Toasty variety. Thanks for the tip!

And now I have tried Extra toasty Cheez-Its. I’ve been doing A vs. B taste tests between Extra toasty and White cheddar (my current favorite). And the White cheddar variety retains its “current favorite” status. Sorry, Extra toasty.

I like every Cheez-It variety that I’ve tried, but the White cheddar variety has a special characteristic: a prominent and delightful aftertaste that no other variety can match.

Taste aside, the Nutrition Facts panels also give the edge to the White cheddar variety:

White cheddar (30g)
Calories: 150
Total fat: 7g
Sodium: 210 mg
Protein: 3g

Extra toasty (30g)
Calories: 150
Total fat: 8g
Sodium: 230 mg
Protein: 3g

I'll pick up some White Cheddar next time I'm at the store. I think I tried them years ago, but now I'll have to try again. Smile

Who isn't serious about crackers?!? Chips? Boo! Crackers are better!! Cool

I get the Duoz Sharp Cheddar and Parmesan. I tried the bacon style. Didn't like them.

I bought a box of white cheddar and extra toasty. I like the toasty but still prefer white cheddar. I also mixed ‘em half and half, that was good.

I'm patiently waiting for extra toasty Wheat Thins. The Extra toasty Cheez its are the best though. A blend of half extra toasty and regular is nice.

The white chedder are indeed good. I see they have a new line called Snap'd. The double cheese I will try. I gotta bust this open with my favorite dry snack food. Down the potato chip isle at WalMart, across from the chips are bags of Ritz Crisp & Thins. Oh you can get bacon and other flavors but, please try the Cream cheese and onion flavor. When ever I get there, tomorrow, I buy the regular size bag for me and, a family size bag for me also.. Big Grin. These are the most delightful snack food I've ever eaten. I sit in the parking lot for near a 1/2 hour enjoying them. Even driving down the highway with my hand in the bag. Cream cheese & onion Crisp & Thins. I cant stop eating them.

I like Cheez-It Grooves Sharp White Cheddar too. (Just Grooves hereafter) Their flavor is at least as good as my favorite (Cheez-It White Cheddar). Maybe even a bit better. But the Grooves aren’t my favorite for these reasons:
* At my stores a 12.4 oz box of Cheez-It White Cheddar costs exactly the same as a 9 oz box of Grooves.
* Cheez-It White Cheddar makes excellent croutons. So good in certain soups. But the thin, dense Grooves don’t make good croutons.
* Cheez-It White Cheddar pieces are uniformly sized (26mm x 24mm). I like that uniformity. Grooves pieces are rectangles of greatly varying aspect ratio. Most pieces have the same width, but different height.
