Who'd a thunk a little bit more toasting would make such a major improvement to the already outstanding flavor of the Cheez-it?!? It does make sense - real cheese does the same. But these Extra Toasty Cheez-its - they could easily steal Lay's slogan - You can't eat just one! Smile

Cheez-Its has been dead to me since they stopped making parmesan/garlic.

Toasty Cheez Its taste like toasted cheese.

Regular Cheez Its taste like chewing on a wet bag of flour that dried out by rubbing alcohol and rainwater from a hubcap.

Even my dogs won't eat regular Cheez Its. They look up at me as if saying "What in the hell am I supposed to do with that? "

There is a difference.

Every once in a while I get a box of Extra Toasty that are anything but.

Make me go: "What in the hell am I supposed to do with that? "

My current favorite is White Cheddar Cheez-Its. Generally better than Original, but the aftertaste of the White Cheddar variety is especially fine, and pronounced.

But yes, I will try the Extra Toasty variety. Thanks for the tip!

Dude the Pepper Jack Cheez-its are amazing.

I’ll have to look for the extra toasty ones next time.

Regular cheezit don’t do it for me. Too bland.
Cheezit grooves are pretty darn good. I’m going to try the puffs next.

Smoked Cheez-Its sounded weird but then I tried them and they are delicious.
This is the recipe I use but use a different rub and also add a bag of the Gardetto toasted rye chips.

About 60 years ago, my father would buy a couple of boxes of Cheez-it’s every week. They were $0.19 a box. I’d grab one of the boxes and hide it under my bed. I couldn’t leave them alone then and can’t leave them alone now. I just don’t buy them.

If you like the Extra Toasty Cheez-its (and I do too) try the Extra Cheezy Cheez-its.

I have tried “Extra Cheezy Cheez-its”, and I think that they’re misnamed. They should be named “Extra Salty Cheez-its”. Looking at the “Nutrition Facts” table of the two varieties you see this:

Original 30g
Sodium 230mg
Protein 3g

Extra Cheesy 30g
Sodium 270mg
Protein 3g

Protein is cheese. So the Extra Cheesy variety has no more cheese than the Original, just more salt. Also, a little more “annatto extract color” a natural food dye that gives Cheez-Its their “cheesy” color. My taste buds concur with the “Nutrition Facts” data.

I don't know. Personally, I've never chewed on a wet bag of flour that dried out by rubbing alcohol and rainwater from a hubcap, but since he has, he may be right.

I'd be willing to bet they're made on the same assembly line as the Cheez-Its and rebranded. Most store brands are.

Fair enough. Guess I like the toasty ones better.

When I get a box of the other kind by mistake or some that weren't toasted enough, I don't eat them because the flavor isn't there.
