Mid 80s to early 90s MB G-wagen. Tough old birds, does terrain with aplomb. Yes it's Benz and at times replacement parts can be painfully pricey, but sometimes youz gotsta duz it in stile, bra. Not nearly so tarted and gussied up (and obtusely complicated) like their later brethren of the same name and model 'klasse'. However as with almost all 4WD rigs of this era, they've been creeping up in price thanks to the fits of nostalgia of certain age demographics--aka post-baby boomers with plenty of discretionary cash--that have been hypnotized by all sorts of pop culture references (movies, video games, etc.). But if one were to consider this choice, that soul should still be able to find a nicely maintained if slightly high mileage rig for $20k-$25k without that much difficulty. Also kinda fits nicely with a love of Germanic firearms, too. Wink

What's the deal about the 4th gens?

The 4th gen is a fine vehicle, it just isn't a 3rd or 5th gen, splitting hairs though.

4TH Gen is also available with the V8

I love the 4th gen 4Runners! I've had 3 of them, still driving one and so is my daughter.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

"The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth."
