Some of column A, some of column B. Long-ish basketball shorts for around the house in the summer time. Knee length athletic shorts also. Cargo/golf shorts maybe an inch above the knee for actually going out in public.

My wife kindly and quickly hems my local Kohl's cargo shorts (I keep it simple) about 1.5" so they are about 2" above the knees.

I just checked the ones I am wearing and they are right at the knee.

It was upper 80's here yesterday which is damn hot for us northerners. I seen a kid at the gas station wearing "shorts" that came about 4" above his ankles and a hoodie with the hood up. I could never figure out how some guys can run around in long heavy pants in hot weather much less a hoodie.

At the top of the knee. Which is usually around a 10" or 11" inseam, on me.

Above the knee, 7-7.5”. Living in south Florida it’s my year round attire. Can’t stand the ones that hang over the knee.

5-7 inch inseam only. I've never understood the point of wearing 'shorts' that go below the knee. Just go ahead and wear jeans if you're going to wear them that long.

Certain unnamed individuals with knobby knees and bird legs will never wear shorts shorter than 1” above the ankle.

If I looked like JJ Reeves aka "Gun Shorts", I would wear them short like a girl. But alas, I must wear golf shorts.

Didn't wear them then; they allowed us to wear long pants. Shorts are for women and kids around here. I ain't saying it's right or makes sense, just how i was raised.

Like bald1 I was going to try and inject a little humor into my post by asking what portion of the shorts was the OP referring too. Anyway, the responses seemed to have clarified that point.

I have one comfy pair of mowing shorts from my porkier days that eventually does all 3!

Definitely below the knee.
