I have several A19 style bulbs from over the years of replacing with LED. Other than maybe many years from now being an old vintage nostalgia item any reason for keeping current modern day versions of home incandescent bulbs of any wattage? I see me not using them at all. Just collecting dust in boxes. Will recycle them locally if HD or Lowe's takes them.

I wouldn't toss them out... heck, if I were more near to you I'd offer to take them off your hands.

Several times recently, I've seen posts on Nextdoor from people looking for incandescent bulbs. I'm sure you can re-home them easily.

Up here in the cold country , I use the old bulbs in winter as they do generate small amounts of heat,
and the new bulbs in summer to help keep the tiny Apt. Cool

Swapping out seven bulbs isn't a chore

You could always post them up on Facebook, local board, etc., for free so maybe someone who needs bulbs and doesn't have money to get some. It is sad and amazing at how a little thing like that can make a difference in someone's life.

60 watt A-19 bulbs are hard to find and expensive when you do.

Karma them. Smile

I pitched mine since they're not energy efficient compared to led bulbs, and I'm not hatching chicken eggs.

I'm not sure why people still like them, since most led bulbs come in an equivalent warm white kelvin color.

My guess is using them for heating living space in the winter months is not energy efficient either, and I'm not sure, but would would hazard to guess by a lot compared to whatever the preferred heating technology is used in your region.

Actually, an incandescent bulb is ~40% efficient, the 60% loss is given off as heat. Therefore you are getting nearly 100% use from the electricity you buy, less transmission and PF losses, both of which are present with LED bulbs.

I'd keep them, I actually have some stashed back.

In my Ham Radio "shack" all lighting is LED.

I was having some "noise" affecting the reception on HF frequency. Some investigation revealed the LED bulbs were the issue.

I swapped those out, put in my new old stock incandescent bulbs and the problem went away.

I also was having problems with the remote opener operation of the garage door opener.
The garage door opener repair guy noticed I had recently put in a LED bulb in the opener instead of an incandescent. Got it swapped out and all is fine now. I've since learned there are LED bulbs specially designed not to cause interference.

Good topic, good info, thanks for sharing.

Keep or Karma them. I replaced our old CFLs and LEDs with incandescents and we all like the color of light better. It also eliminated the high pitch whine of the new bulbs.

Keep them.

They are the only thing my garage door opener likes, YMMV.

When we moved back to Colorado, our house was all LED cans so didn’t need them. Ended up leaving them behind in CLE.

I stocked up as well. Regular types, round bathroom style, and candle flame-looking ones.
