Well, you made me wonder, so I went out and looked. There's no sport button in ours. We don't have the Sport model. I checked the manual, and searched for "adapt" and pulled this up on page 7:

I'd certainly endorse the CX-5 as one to seriously look at. Really nice drivers, those Mazdas. More fun to drive than any other SUV I've driven this side of a Porsche Macan or Cayenne. And certainly a LOT less money to buy and operate than those particular Europeans. I've driven the CX-5 a few times over a couple of generations; a really impressive car for the money. It's a bit more size and $$ than what 'we' (i.e., my wife) want to drive and spend on for her next Mazda--we became converts to the Zoom-Zoom brand years ago--so I suspect that we'll wind up with a CX-30 instead. Drove one of those as a loaner earlier this year and both of us were really was smitten by it. Not as "luxurious" as the larger CX-5, but the CX-30 seem to hit all of the right buttons for our immediate needs and wants. We're toying with spending even less and looking for a used one but being that it's only just now going into its second model year the pickings are virtually nonexistent. -MG | |||

Stay away from the 4 cylinder. Had a 2010 Equinox that was horrible. It may as well been a 2 stroke motor for the amount of oil we put in it. | |||

Now that I look back at it, I should've probably gotten the hybrid when we got our 2018 a couple years ago. But being the vehicle is so much closer to being paid off, I don't think it'd be worth getting rid of it for a hybrid at this point. Most of the Highlander driving are short trips with the exception of it being our road trip vehicle. Computer says it gets 22.1 right now. Was kind of disappointed in that. _____________ | |||

We bought one of the first Edge models out in 2007, never had one problem, wife drove it for 7 to 8 years. Brakes, plugs, tires, gas and oil... It was in as good a shape when we sold it as it was when she got it. Wouldn't hesitate to get another, now that the kids are gone she wanted a smaller vehicle so she's got a Lincoln MKC that she loves... Lot more room in the Edge/Aviator platform. | |||

Another vote for the CX5. Daughter wanted a compact suv. We were looking at RAV4, CRV, ESCAPE, etc. Then she drove the CX5. That was it. It narrowed down to it. Only con is that there is a pretty good blindspot. But that is about it. | |||

That must have been a redesign. I looked at a earlier model and you had to take off something involved with steering, and disassemble some cover on the interior of the fender because half of the battery was underneath it. _________________________ OH, Bonnie McMurray! | |||

My wife has a 2019 Terrain, She has been happy with. It hasn't been on an extended road trip but as a daily driver getting around 26 mpg. It's got the 2.0 liter. The turbo gives it plenty of HP. | |||

Yeah, I wonder if the adaptive wasn't well-received and people wanted direct control over whether it was engaged or not. Come back to the Toyota V6!!! Yes, early on they had issues. They routed an oil house outside the engine (pretty dumb) that rubbed on metal and could spring a leak but they have addressed that issue a lonnnggg time ago!! After getting an Avalon with 99k miles from carmax i had the recall done to address the oil pipe issue. I drove it for 7 1/2 years. My wife drives it now and it's go over 240k miles on it! I got a 2011 camry with same engine (pipe issue addressed in manufacturing by now so no recall). I plan to drive it forever. That V6 is the main reason I bought that Camry. I LOVE that engine. We have a Mazda CX-5 and it is a really good SUV. Only issues: Heater controls (fan) way down low on the center console and instead of a fan knob, has annoying + and - buttons--hard to see and you have to look down to use them. Weird windshield wiper arm connectors--no winter blades available for them, and the blades ice up badly here in CNY. Good ride otherwise, though.
