I am replacing our flooring down stairs and want to get 2 new chairs, recliners if possible. I am looking at La Z Boy and possibly Stressless, but they are pretty spendy. Would like to stay under $2500 for both. Let me know what you like and why. "We've done four already, but now we're steady..."

I must be the only one but the last two times I bought La Z Boy they turned out to be pure junk. I recently bought a Flexsteel and the quality is way better than La Z Boy. I can't comment on any other brands but I'm definitely done with La Z Boy after giving them a second chance.

Stressless is good but make sure you get fitted. Choices (model/style) may be limited when fitted. Eames would be another consideration. There is a (new to me) brand out there (F something) that is also pricey but not sure if they are good or not. I'd go to a store that specializations in Scandinavian furniture - I've had good luck in general. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." I saw a nice Barcolounger in Costco the other day, but Made In China, so no go. Any USA made chairs out there anymore?

Item 1: If you have a Paliser dealer, that might pay to visit them. Made in Canada - we've had our Paliser recliners for almost 10 years now and love them. Item 2: RE: maximizing the budget (not manufacturer specific) If you can plan ahead and are not in a rush, there are times of the year when manufacturers put these beasties on sale. Example: I got a custom Paliser sectional about 30% off list by waiting for their annual sale and buying it in early January. After you pick a style/manufacturer, ask the rep when the factory runs their sales.

For many years I’ve been jonesing for an Eames chair. Now there’s a new store in a nearby mall that sells them. Beautiful, but pricey. Serious about crackers

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
I'm trying extra hard to buy things made in the USA now plus most of the less expensive stuff comes from China nowadays and is crap. Try shopping on the second hand market for something quality like a Stickley Morris chair if you like that style. That chair will outlast you and never goes out of style. You should be able to get two within your budget if you shop around and have patience. There are usually several on ebay to get a feel for prices. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

A coworker said the same thing.
There is actually a pretty big seller about an hour from us. I will look at Eames too.
I've had pretty good luck with Flexsteel. Our last purchase was a FlexSteel sectional that has been pretty good but definitely some quality issues with the mechanism and thickness of the leather. "We've done four already, but now we're steady..."

Maybe not that price point but what’s that Scandinavian (??) line that comes up here occasionally with huge fans? I need to save it so I can remember when I need one! You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

La Z Boy Joshua in leather is my favorite. If I had it to do over, I would get the dual power controls in it. Mine is a manual. Even tightened, it slowly moves to full recline. It is so comfortable, that results in lots of napping while trying to stay awake and watch something. I tried every recliner in the La Z Boy store and another huge furniture store.

I think my current chair is a LaZBoy, and I know the prior one was. I don't go by brand. When I need a new chair (not often) I go to a furniture store and give their chairs a test sit/recline. I buy the one that feels best. I sleep in my lounge chair now. Some years ago I found that I was falling asleep at night in my chair while watching TV and napping for several hours; I was even napping during the day. So I decided it was ridiculous to go upstairs (to bedroom) and undress to go to bed and just stayed in my lounge chair. The half-reclined position works very well because it keeps my air passage open for easier breathing, too. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

I am on my third, or forth, Lazy boy in leather. They just fit me, and yes, they are pricy, BUT, my butt is in them everyday. I have been known to take a little "combat nap" in them also. I don't plan to change.

La - Z - boy tall man seemed like a good chair. For a while, it was. Then, the memory foam cushion slipped from its mooring, and is in a somewhat disjointed state under the upholstery cover. I asked if they could fix it. Sure, but it would be $600 as they had to make an entirely new panel. The color would NOT be the same, as it was a few years old, and the chair would be out of service for a while. So, if you do buy La-Z-boy, take careful note of the warranty. You may want to purchase an extended warranty. Ekornes Stressless chairs are spendy. They are awesome. They come in tall, regular sizes. We plan to buy these in place of the La-Z-boy when the time comes. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

I have a flexsteel recline loveseat and couch and love them. Now after using the, the Wife wants to move them from the man cave to the loving room...I am holding out as she was against leather recliners and wanted fancy looking uncomfortable couches so we are stuck with those upstairs. Flexsteel is spendy, but very good quality. There are 3 kinds of people, those that understand numbers and those that don't.
