My son is obsessed with these stupid YouTube videos of people playing video games. I don't get it. Just play the damn game of you are interested. If I didn't limit his screen time he would watch this crap all day.

He only watches them in family areas so I know it's not inappropriate, and he just laughs and laughs and loves it.

There is no real reason for me to hate these videos so much, but it just eats at me that he wastes his time with this garbage.

Do your kids watch this stuff?

Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

My GF's daughter did. Mind craft mainly. The commentary from the players were entertaining.
I figure it's like us watching "let's make a deal" and the likes.

A distant relative of mine makes a ton of money with these videos of him playing games. He plays around 12 hours a day. Over $500,000.00 a month to play games in his basement.

My 12 year old son and 16 year old daughter do. I have no clue why they seem to like it.

You have got to have some zeros wrong there, right? Please say yes. Or this is Zimbabadollas, or something....

Sadly, this might not be a typo, it is scary what some of these gamers make

I consider myself lucky that neither one my my kids every got into gaming more than a once in a while thing

Future step son used to watch videos of others playing games. I believe he's mostly grown out of that, but I don't get it either. I'd rather watch paint dry (and painting is on my list of things I really don't like to do)...

Yes, my daughter does. Starting with Minecraft tutorials. One of those Youtubers, LD Shadowlady makes > $3 million doing this.

My son is doing it right now as we are on our third hour of waiting at the MVA. I asked him why he watches them and he said he just enjoys it. Then he asked me why I watch videos of people picking locks.

I cut him some slack because he is an honor student and a competitive athlete as well as a violinist.

Why do people watch professional sports? same basic idea.

I don't watch much sports or any gamers so I don't know what the hub bub is all about, but I can see how it appeals.

Not a typo. He had his own Super Bowl commercial. Just Google Ninja Gamer. You won’t believe the insane amount of money he is bringing in. He got paid a cool million just to play a certain game and tweet about it when it first came out.

Is he also streaming on Twitch? For the blissfully unaware, Twitch is a live streaming service owned by Amazon. People buy subscriptions to watch other people do things like play video games or knit. One Twitch channel streams old Bob Ross shows. It's a weird world out there.
ETA: Never mind. He's on Twitch. Smile

Pewdiepie makes in the tens of millions each year streaming on Twitch and uploading to YouTube. And I consider his content to be utterly asinine compared with other game streamers.

Oh. To answer your question. Yes my kids will watch these videos for hours if I let them. I think they would rather watch other people play than actually play themselves.

My 11 y/o and I went fishing yesterday. The day before we were shooting, today he rode dirt bikes all day. Tomorrow he's going fishing again, and Sunday we're pouring a concrete slab. So no, none of that stupidity here. I worked with a guy...grown-ass, professional man...who used to watch that stuff at work on his breaks. He had aspirations to become a "professional gamer", whatever that is. I suppose people are making money doing it...still doesn't make it a worthwhile pursuit.

You ever watch shows with other people shooting guns? Ever watch a cooking show? No difference, they are watching someone who is really good do something they enjoy doing themselves and appreciate their level of expertise.

caught four minutes of Dr. Phil , talking to a lady who has lost control of her 9 y.o. son ,
who does nothing but play car stealer and war craft.

the kid tells her to "f" off, and shut the hell up.

the kids game station looked like some kind of command control for a u.a.v.

evidently some doctors are calling gaming and illness that needs to be treated .
