Update: PET scan reveals spread of cancer to lymph nodes, meaning Stage III. Next step will be deciding the treatment options. Probably still surgery, and something else.

After surgery comes radiation or chemo. MAKE sure the doc knows how to protect your teeth in the process. I know several people who have come through this just fine.

Just back from oncologist. He's putting me at Stage IVa, with a 5-year survival rate of 20-30%. Surgery not beneficial due to already metastasized. Will be starting chemotherapy right away.
